Ice Skateboard
2006-02-11
Today, I finished up my ice-skateboard! After waiting for far too long for someone to call me about cutting the blades, I decided it was time to find someone who would do it for some $.$$. To that end, I went to K And K over on South Ave. They're a little local shop that does tons of custom work and appear to get a lot of repeat business. For $30.00, the guy cut the blades into the correct shape for me. I was really impressed at the restult.
Ice-Skateboard
Here's a pic after I had drilled the center hole.

I picked them up yesterday after work and then went home and put an edge on them. I used the same shape as the ice-boaters do... a simple 90 degree angle. I carved out the basic shape of the edge with a metal file and then cleaned it up with a sharpening stone.Ice-Skateboard... Repeat this step 3 more times to get the four blades required.Ice-Skateboard. Today, I went to Home Depot and got the threaded rod which I use as cross braces on each truck. With the trucks going through the center hole, I needed to drill 2 more holes in each blade and run the threaded rod through. Attaching 2 bolts, one on each side of the blade, secures the blade in place and creates the stiffness needed to steer the board.Ice-Skateboard. Here are a couple of pictures of the finished product.Ice-SkateboardIce-Skateboard. Unfortunately, there's no ice right now, so I can't go try it out. Hopefully there will be some solid water around soon. Temps seem to be cooperating for the time being. With any luck, I'll be able to try out my new ice-skateboard with my new kite! We'll see. That kite will make an update of its own... count on that.

correction - as of this morning, our gas is now $2.25.9 - you got the better deal.

Had first therapy this a.m. The therapist said my range of motion is really good - she was pleased to see I am able to move as much as I can. Me too.

Hope your valentines day was nice - ours was - we went to the Rusty Pontoon in Dunellen for lunch. Yummy.

Hugs

Never fails, I always seem to fill up two days before the price drops.

love those gas prices - we are still stuck with 2.29!! A couple of places have dropped to 2.25 but we just won't use their brand.

Chilly here this a.m. only 21 degrees at 7 but has warmed to 61 by 3 - not bad but still chilly by my standards.

E-mail for BBCK yesterday or today.

Betty - My grandmother has been living with my cousin's family since my grandfather died. I guess they are going to put the house up for sale.

Talix - what a busy weekend for you. Sorry about that. Does your mom being in FL mean that your grandparents won't be going back to their house there but going north instead? We see it all the time being in a 55+ community ourselves. I suppose some day that just may be one or both of us. My mom was a caregiver for her mother - while having 3 teenaged girls at home too!! Yea Gads!! My poor mom.
Anyhow- your pic is beautiful!! Ma

No snow day for me. I had to dig out of my house to get over to my mother's to feed her cats. She and her husband are in FL cleaning out my grandparents' house. I got to shovel out two houses!

The good news is that both houses have power.

Oh my, look at all that beautiful white powder... How I covet. Of course, shoveling out would be a pain.

I've got the video-email working now. When you see the film clip icon , you can click on it to see a video I recorded with my cell phone.

For Talix: I 'bout died when I heard this. This was one of those times when I was happy that I could rewind the show that I was watching. Thank Pepe for DVR. They were interviewing Mikey Waltrip on Speed just before the Bud Shootout (probably will be rained-out?) Just as the interview was wrapping up, Mikey tried to get in his sponsor list. Mikey is the king of sponsor mentions! This time, not so much.
