When's the first snow?

Yesterday, I went kiteboarding after work. I left the office with everything already packed in the truck and I went straight to MBSP. I was the only one there because most people went to North Cape Yacht Club (NCYC) or somewhere near there. The wind was out of the southwest, but felt there was enough of a west component to make kiting at MBSP safe enough. After all, there is a sand-bar out near the point to the west of the resort. If worse came to worst, I could drift to the sand-bar and walk the 2 miles back to the lodge by staying along the shore. I set up my 14 meter kite and put-in at the "boat beach" which, for whatever reason, is the beach that EVERYONE uses for swimming. The wind was really gusty! There were several times where the kite was falling out of the sky because there wasn't enough wind to fill the canopy. Then, in the middle of the fall, the kite would power up in a gust of wind and it would lift me out of the water. Lots of fun!



The wind chart above should give you an idea of what kinds of gusts I was dealing with. I still had fun, though. The only real bummer was one time when I was getting out of the water at the last beach-inlet (closest to the lodge), I stepped on a log when I was trying to brace myself against the force of a rather large gust. The log had some sharp edges on it and I ended up putting a nice gash in the bottom of my foot. Thank Bob for Bactracin. It was tender this morning, but it feels okay now. There won't be any wind this afternoon and tomorrow I'm leaving to go camping. I guess I'll have to wait until Monday/Tuesday to ride again.

I can't even begin to explain how stoked up I am about kiteboarding. I thought I loved it before I could get up on plane and stay up-wind. Now that I'm doing both of those, I think about kiteboarding even more often. I can't wait for winter so that I can get some snowkiting in! I saw a video online where a guy was kiting with a tow-rope attached to his harness. At the end of the tow-rope was a kid on his/her snowboard. I think I'll give that a try with BBCK. She can't wait to get on the mountain again. She asked me just the other day if we were going to go again this year. Hell yes, we'er going.

something is eating my cookies during the day. It worked fine until early afternoon and the they were gone. Proof of this is at the weather channel site I have three towns highlighted and they disappeared in the afternoon..

Turn off your active spyware and try again. I'm guessing you have a different setting than BBoop and that's why you have problems and she doesn't (on the computer).

It's a good thing you dropped one "o" in that, or mom would have been Bboobs and I wouldn't know what to do with that.

I think your computer has different issues, then pops. If BB runs the same spyware, and you're not able to see a simple image... there's a bigger problem somewhere.

I threw a couple/three of jumps that didn't use the kite to pull me out of the water, yesterday. I'm getting better every time I go out. I doubt the jumps were very high, but they were fun and I landed 2 of them.
