MIS 2005-08-22 |
To the man I spoke to on the phone regarding the lost dog. The picture of the dog that my kids found will be posted on Tuesday - Please stop back after 1pm. I wish you the best of luck with finding your dog. I've lost one of my own... I know how frustrating it is.
We arrived at the race with no problems at all. There was practically no traffic to speak of. We parked in a lot right off of M50 on the north side of the track. After we parked, we walked directly to the nearest gate which wasn't far away at all. Unfortunately, our seats were on the south side of the track. Once we were in the gate, we realized that there wasn't a short way to the opposite side of the track, so we were forced to walk the long way around. But, that was okay because we walked past everything that there was to see and we went back outside of the fence when we saw the merchandise trucks near the front gate. It took FOR EVER to find the Bobby Labonte truck. When we did, Tal was in heaven. They had lots and lots of stuff. She bought a 2 shirts and a window-cling. I bought a baseball cap. Yes, I wore a baseball cap. No really... I did. After that we grabbed a $14 lunch and went to our seats. We got to our seats in perfect time... just in time to hear the most famous words in sports, "Gentlemen, start your engines!" We had really good seats. From where we were, the view was this...
And, with cars going by, it looked like this...

The race was amazing. The sounds, the smells, the people... all great. Attending a race is not like attending a pro-football game. At the race, you can still experience everything and enjoy it even more than you would have enjoyed it on TV. I think I would compare it to attending a hockey game. I don't know if we were just lucky or if the people at MIS are generally good people, but we weren't near a bunch of drunks that were loud and obnoxious. I am pretty sure that we'll go to another race and another one after that. It was a great time. |
