CPAP Update
2005-11-14
This is the machine that I got:

And, this is the mask:

The first night that I wore the mask, I tightened it too much and I made the bridge of my nose sore. I kept feeling cold air on my cheeks which indicates a leak, so I'd tighten the mask a little hoping to eliminate the leak. Unfortunately, it seems that there wasn't a leak at all. The cold air I was feeling was INSIDE the mask (I think I need to turn up the heater). After a while, I loosened the mask almost completely and I was way more comfortable.

On the second night, I was more comfortable with the mask, but my nose was stuffy so I only wore the mask for about 5.5 hours.

I didn't wear the mask last night because I left my hose (from the cpap machine to the mask) at Talix's house. I'll be going to get a new hose today. At least I'll have a back-up. I can't believe how much these places are ripping off the consumers/Medicare. A hose that I can buy online for $9.99 could cost me as much as $56.00 if I buy it from a medical supply company locally. I did manage to find one for $24.00, though. That's not too bad.

we went out for breakfast - it is Friday after all - decided not to drive this morning - and by 10:30, the second window is in and we are on the 3rd. Like I said before, the trim goes up last.

one window in and 4 to go. it went fairly easy and looks nice. we are going to wait and do all the trim at once - after all 5 windows are in place. by the time the last one is in, we should be pros.

Pooped tonight. Hugs all around. ma

from my point of view - i think he slept very well while he was using the machine. There was very little if any movement and it made me realize just how active he usually is. after 3:30, there was snoring, etc. a long night for me.

Our new windows arrived today and we are busy with installation of window #1. so far, so good.

Do you feel rested?

I made it through 8.5 hours my first night and I think I slept quite a long time that night. Since then... ugh. Not so good.

The island across from the Rossford marina was about 3X the normal size because the water had been blown clear of the east side of the island. I've never seen it like that before.

My machine is set on 7. What's yours?

Last night was even worse with the mask. I think it was the most uncomfortable night so far. I made an appt for Friday to switch my mask. I can hardly wait.

You did what with love?

We've got some serious winds here today. See! If only there was snow on the ground, or dry ground to mountainboard on, or time away from work that I could afford, or...

asl upir som if you can see what we sent to the baby

translation:
ask your son if you can see what we sent to the baby

I'll do that.

Betty Boop - You may want to make a recording of sopops's snoring. After forty-???? years you might have a problem sleeping after he gets the CPAP machine. There will be no more snoring after that.

I didn't sleep very well with the CPAP last night. It seemed like I just couldn't tear down that thin curtain between awake and asleep. I'm going to call today and see about switching from the mask to the Swift .
While it is slightly louder, the noise is basically a white noise. The other downfall of the Swift is the exhaust - it blows directly out of the front of the "mask". This could be a problem when snuggling.

look out for a package - I had 'em shipped to your house and the $$ has been deducted from our account here so the stuff should be on its way. Let us know when you get 'em, ok?

we go at noon tomorrow to see about the CPAP for pops - will let you know how we make out.

asl upir som if you can see what we sent to the baby - he got the pkg but i had to ask him if he got anything from me last week! He said he really had not looked at the stuff - too busy. that's our boy! love hiim anyhow.

hugs all around.
