Last night, I was struggling to get to sleep. As I lay there with my eyes closed, I thought about some silly things including
  • Who's fist is behind my left eye putting pressure on the eyeball?
  • Why can't I fall asleep?
  • Why is it so warm in January? - This one I solved, but more on that later
  • How difficult will it be to fix the slow leak in one of the bladders on my new kite?
  • I wonder how much in donations has been received by the guy who wrote the program I used to do the GPS thing (I sent him $10.00)
  • Why am I thinking about all this stuff when I should be sleeping?
  • How close is that siren going to get?
  • Is that siren as close as I think it is?
At this point, I sat up and opened my eyes. That's when I realized that there was no fist pressing my left eyeball and the siren IS that close! I could see the lights from the emergency vehicle bouncing off the houses across the street. As I turned my head toward the source of the lights, I heard, "Stop you dumbass! I'm going to taze you!" At this point, I could see the suspect running down the sidewalk right in front of my house. The cop gave chase and he was gaining on the guy. As they ran past my house, I yelled out "GET HIM! GET HIM! GET HIM!" hoping to encourage the cop to press on faster and harder. The officer yelled again, "I'm going to taze you!" and they disappeared to the south of my house. I could tell that the crook cut across Ruth's yard headed toward the backyards and the security of... the creek?

I hopped out of bed and threw on some clothes so that I could go outside and watch the rest of the action. When I got outside the scene was filled with the wail of the siren on the police cruiser which was sitting in the middle of the street about 5 houses to the north. The cruiser's driver side door was open. The lights were on.Beyond that, there was another car on the strip of grass between the street and the sidewalk. It looked to be a Buick, still running, lights on. Sleepy neighbors began filing out of their houses to see what was going on. It occurred to me at this point, that this idiot ran back toward the pursuing police car after he bailed out of the car he had been driving. What an idiot! Come on, you run AWAY from the cop, not toward him! Sheesh... it's not rocket surgery

Shortly after I got outside, another police car pulled up. The officer bounded out of the car as I pointed him in the direction of the other officer who had been chasing the suspect. He ran between Ruth's house and John's house. I decided to follow, but not directly. I wanted to see what was going on back there, but I didn't want to get in the way, so I walked up my driveway and peeked between the bushes and fence that separate my yard from Ruth's yard. There, I saw the two officers standing over the suspect. The suspect had been handcuffed by this time and the officers were searching through his pockets to find whatever it is that police look for. Satisfied that they had found everything they were going to find, they yanked the guy from the ground and told him to stand. They walked back to one of the 6 police cars that had accumulated on the street and assisted him into the back seat. The cops walked the street looking for possible damage to cars that were parked along the street and whatever else it is that police look for when they look for things with their 2-foot long flashlights. One by one, the police cruisers left the scene leaving just one to baby-sit the car (stolen?) that had been stopped by a fire hydrant on the grass strip between the street and the sidewalk. I went back to bed and eventually drifted off to sleep.

When I woke up, I was sure that I was right about why it's so warm in January. It's Mother Nature's revenge on Columbia Gas for gouging their customers and blaming it on Katrina, another of Mother Nature's creations. I hope Columbia Gas chokes on their surplus.

Did anyone think to take pics while you were holding the little one? The pics we have are nearly a month old already. It is hard to believe she will be 3 months old tomorrow, isn't it? hugs all around - ma

Yes. She was here last night. I got to play with her for a few minutes. I finally got the new site added to my host. Now, all I have to do is create the database, generate the tables, update the html so it doesn't refer to bizb.biz, create a new banner picture and upload the lot of it.

That should take a while, yeah?

Nice work Biz. I wouldn't be surprised if the PD hired you as their official cheerleader.

A kiss will be given. We thought you would like to see the proposal since he gave her your ring. You will see how meaningful it was for 'fer to give what was once yours. It was so sweet. Take care and thanks for the response.

'fer called to get our address but goodness knows when he will get around to mailing it. I will get after him if I don't get it tomorrow - no mail service today. We both thank you for thinking of us. Be sure to kiss those sweet cheeks next time you get a chance. Great Gran

Henry gave it to Chris right after Christmas and had it in an envelope ready for the post office or UPS. All that was needed was your address and to be dropped in the mail. I hope it hasn't been lost. You may want to check with Chris to see when it was mailed. We thought he might want to share it with his Dad before sending it. I believe the original tape has been used since then so, if I'm right, we won't be able to make another copy. Please let me know if you track it down.

Hi - I am so computer illerite that I find this all very facinating. Even I have been checking for pics of "Miss M" and enjoy all of them. I have a question for Granny regarding pictures of "M" - We made a video of Christmas here at our house where "fer" proposed to Brooke and gave her your ring. As a G'ma, I thought you would like to be in on what happened. So Henry made a copy of the tape and told him to mail it to you. I know most of it is probably of no interest to you, but we thought you'd enjoy the parts with the kids and Miss M. And to fer's Dad - I am a bit confused on some of the comments. My understanding is that he is in school full time. I hope I am correct in that. I just wasn't sure. An education is so important for them to get ahead in life at all. He and Brooke are so precious to us and we hope and pray for the best for them both. (3) "Miss M's" great Granny

well, the longest, hardest week in years is nearly over. We went to Alice's funeral service today....so that part is done and this evening we will say goodbye to her kids who all have become friends to all of us who loved her. They are going to sell her house and then we will try to pick up the pieces and go on.

we started out the week making our dear 'fer cry which wasnn't our intention and that hurt terribly too. also, there haven't been any updated pictures of Miss M and that hurts too. I thought with the new camera we would get even more but I just have to deal with that, don't I?

I have a few lottery tickets so wish us luck . . . please. I know what I will do if I win but I can't tell yet. Pray harder than you ever have before. . . . Ma

Things have been hectic the last few days and I have been remiss in keeping family up to date with news. Tuesday I went for my three moonth blader checkup and found out that I'm still clear of cancer, amen.
The same day our dear friend Alice White died in hospice and we were with her hours before she passed on. We will miss her as she was a good friend and fun to be with.

wow such excitement - much like the night they caught Wicked Wanda in our old 'hood, isn't it? That was the extent of crime in those old days. It seems to me it takes a lot more man power to get one guy these days than it did in 1980 or there abouts.
Glad you got some sleep too.
Whoops - SOPOPS just told me he said the same thing. Oh, well, great minds, etc.
