I'm a moron!
No... really. I am.
I just booked my trip to Florida. I went to the airline's web site and put in the dates and did everything I was supposed to do and then I paid for it and printed my ininerary.
Depart Toledo April 26 at 6:05 pm -- Arrive Orlando 8:30pmDepart Orlando April 30 at 4:20 pm -- Arrive Toledo 6:50pm.
This would work out good because it will get BBCK home in time for bed as she will have school the next day.
Then, and only then, I went and double-checked when BBCK's vacation starts/ends.
Friday, April 14 – Sunday, April 23 Easter Vacation (No School)
Monday, April 24 School Resumes
But... how can that be? I made my reservati..... OH SHIT!
I quickly called the airline and sat on hold feeling more and more sick to my stomach... sure that they wouldn't work with me on this. The potential harm was $50 per leg per person, so $200 for making a change to $351 worth of tickets. CRAP! That sucks.
After several minute on hold, someone finally answered and I explained my problem... stupidity. Unfortunately, they don't have an out-clause for stupidity. The girl said she had to charge me for all changes, plus any difference in airfare. As she laid the hammer down upon me, I was looking at their fares for the correct dates. $79 each to get to Florida. $209 each to return to Ohio. CRAP! $79 + $79 + $209 + $209 + $200 = $776 #$%^@ dollars. Or, $200 to cancel. CRAP!
I told the lady I'd have to figure out what I was going to do and that I'd call back. My co-workers, Becky and Dan had heard me talking and Becky asked me if BBCK's mom would be willing to let BBCK miss 3 days of school. I said I doubt it, but it was worth a try.
I called Andrea and explained that I screwed up and that I needed a favor. She was in a really good mood and agreed without a blink (thanks Andrea). As it turns out, BBCK will only miss 2 days of school because we'll be leaving "late" on Wednesday. There's no reason why she can't go to school that day.
Crisis avoided.
The itinerary stands as stated above. The down side is, there won't be any kids at the pool for BBCK to play with.
