PotC: Dead Man's Chest 2000-06-07 |
Yesterday, BBCK and I went to see Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. While the movie is 2.5 hours long, you won't notice that during the movie. There aren't many scenes that I would even consider taking out. The movie picks up with Elizabeth and Will Turner about to get married. Jack Sparrow... errr, CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow is escaping from some island somewhere. I don't want to give away any of the events of the film because it's a really good story line. Though, it does take some time to get to the actual story. Lots of build-up, but there's enough comedy and action to keep you interested through all of this.
Johnny Dep plays Captain Jack Sparrow with the same flair (if not flame) as he did in the first film. The special effects are great. There's lots of sword play and yet another round of cross-dressing jokes in this one.
About the only complaint that I have is that there are a couple of characters with very thick accents and lips that are impossible to read. Even though what they said was lost on me, I got the main point of their conversations through the actions that others took after the conversations. Follow? Yeah, me neither.
BBCK had seen this movie already and was willing to go see it again. I'd pay full (matinee) price to see it again without blinking an eye. This one, like the first, is a movie that I might own, if I were into buying movies. |
