I'm done with South Ave
2006-09-07
About a week ago, I decided to completely give up on the South Avenue on ramp to I-75. There have been way too many times when I've had to slam on the brakes because some moron stopped at the top of the ramp instead of getting up to speed and then merging.

There are trees growing between the on-ramp and the highway which make it even more difficult to see if there is an easy place to merge. I've tried my best to get them taken care of without success. My efforts include calling City Council several times, calling the City's Forestry Division and sending an email to the fine people at ODOT.

One day, last week, I spied an accident on the on-ramp in which one car had rear-ended another. Both cars were totaled. There were police, fire and rescue on the scene when I went past. The car that was at fault (the one that stopped) probably was not the driver that was sited for the accident. On this occasion, I was on my way home from work looking over the center divider at the accident.

Today, as I have every day since my decision to avoid South Ave, I drove the extra mile or so and made my merge onto I-75 at the Collingwood Ave on-ramp. I quickly moved over to the leftmost lane as I was confident that people would be trying to merge at the South Ave on ramp and I didn't want to be "in their way". When I rounded the curve, this is what I saw Crash.

Again, the wrong driver was probably cited in this accident. While I understand that it is everyone's responsibility to be aware of the traffic in front of them, in the process of a merge, the driver's attention will logically be on the traffic into which she's/he's trying to merge. The only thing I can be thankful of as a result of these accidents is that there are probably fewer drivers that will use the South Ave on-ramp... not that I'll be affected by that.

They are now on their way, and you are more than welcome. We are glad to be able to do it for you. I think he had nine or ten tapes. Included are one for you, Biz and Cia. C & B had theirs right away.

Thanks Rev. You and Henry are special! Something else to look forward to now. I seem to be going through family withdrawl since our return but will recover with more pix. You can only imagine how that helps.

wow.. that's a horrible picture. There really isn't much more to tell. There was a green car upside down next to the off-ramp right at Wales Rd.

I tried "unnatural" selection and look at the results.

Should we try "Unnatural" selection? but then you run into the problem that has haunted the modern world. You have to let the politicians decide who breeds and who gets "unselected". We can't trust politicians to select properly because they are already a more primitive form.
Just look at Califonia, electing Arnold as an example. A nice guy but does he remind you of a troll lately or is it just me. As to other trolls I won't even mention Hillary.

We've already started evolving toward a more primative form. The human species has reached a point where there are no criteria for acquiring the ability to breed. In fact, those with the least desirable traits are probably breeding more than those with desirable traits. I blame the Socialists... and the Amish.

Just a thought;
Dangerous intersections and onramps this will help the continue the evolution of our species through natural selection. Those who are bright enough to say away are much more likely to end up breeding. Unfortunatly it seems that most teenagers and younger adults are completely oblivous to the dangers around them. My guess is that since wisdom comes with age we will never be able to fix the human race via natural selection.

That access mistake should have been closed the day it opened. It is worse than the summit st. ramp to south 280, they haad it closed for some time but hace reopened it as it is the only ramp at the north end of the bridge. your choice the right one.

Stay safe, son. We love you and wouldn't want you or yours injured (or sited), or insurance rates hiked because of an accident.

Need you to take more pix of your daughter and granddaughter. 'fer just doesn't have/make/take the time! Next time you are in Mich - take some pix of bigbros progress while you are at it.
