The morning, like the last race at MBSP, started with a little bit of fog and an amazing sunrise.  . When we arrived, The Commish and Coach Hunt were setting up the tent  with PrincessB standing nearby making sure everything was done correctly.
Almost race time and the coaches gather  to discuss whatever it is that coaches discuss just before a meet. The girls had more important things on their minds... Spraypainting their hair, of course. What a great tradition that turned out to be! The kids really enjoy it a lot and it gives them a chance to get hyped up before the race. The sun wasn't a factor at race time, but it was cause for Coach Hunt to cover his face from the camera  while most other people  just stood with their backs to the sun. With the day's game-plan all figured out, Coach Tim and Kay (Coach Kay?) round up the girls for the pre-race walk-through   and the kids really listened today. I was impressed with them and the respect they showed for the coaches.
I found this odd as we were doing the walk-through... grass growing on the beach. Lots of grass

Back at the tent, One of the boys was sporting a new hairstyle just for the occasion   and it was decorated nicely. Before the races start, I got a chance to walk around and take in just how big this event was. According to the announcement, there were 8 races totalling 1300+ runners.
Time for stretching and a short warm-up run, we headed over to the far restrooms which turned out to be perfect as the ground was dry  and there was room for the chatters to chat  . Not the Hokey Pokey, but spelling the ABCs with your toe    strengthens the ankle that's on the ground and stretches the ankle that's doing the spelling.
Kay is great with the kids and they really like her  , plus she has the wisdom of a few more years which she imparts upon 2 of the girls while others continue to stretch   . It's not all work. There's always time for chatting before a race  or, if you prefer, you could just lay on the ground and take in the beauty of the day  . Ever happy to ham it up for the camera, BBCK takes a break from stretching to give that cheesy fake smile that she does so well.
Just as the girls were starting to wind down and get restless  , the Junior Boys team came running our way  , so everyone lined the path and cheered on their fellow Irish Runners   . And, as luck would have it, we were standing at the narrowest part of the middle of a loop, so we got to cheer for them comming, and going  .
Time for the Cadet Girls to run! This time, like last, they had to cross the beach. I took my same post as last time and I had PrincessB stand on the other side of the sand-path as the runners went past         .
The Cadets round the hill to the back side and then they climb it, running across the top of the hill before going back down at the steepest point.                 BBCK spent it all throughout the race. She had a cramp, but kept running! 
At the finish-line, everyone gets a ribbon and a "Good Job!"    Coach Sobey is great at giving encouragement.    Keep in mind, BBCK LIKES running cross country  and she leaves every ounce of energy on the course every week. I'm sure her little sister will always have someone to look up to  !!
St Pats Runners team-mates show great sportsmenship   and support eachother at every race. If I put the girls names on the site, right here I'd say, " , thank you for making BBCK feel better about her effort!"
Oh My! The boys are coming around the corner already!       I don't know if the mowhawk makes you faster, or not. But, I do know they look great when you're running.   
The reward for all that effort...  is Dad's unending love and pride and a cup of coco.
The Cadet Girls took second  and got a trophy for the effort. |
