Betty Boop Tue Dec 19 07:48:44 AM Rev - thanks for your prayers. They mean so much. Hubby is doing very well, although had his first real pain late yesterday into this morning. He had some P.T. yesterday which is probably the culprit. They will be here in less than an hour so we will see what the RN has to say and go from there.
BIZ - we were so hoping you would call to talk to him - how about it tonight? BBCK hasn't called yet either!?!?
I am doing fine taking care of him and being his gofer but he has let me go out a couple of times to do stuff which helps. We have had good books to read and are now resuning out daily cribbage games. Fun.

BizB Mon Dec 18 01:32:28 PM Not getting into it. Just putting up a good front for BBCK.
Those cookies turned out great. They even taste good!
What's the scoop w/Pops? Have you kicked him to the curb, yet? Reply |
Betty Boop Mon Dec 18 01:25:30 PM Re: your last comment - they recovered a body today. So sad.
Your house front with the lights etc. looks so nice. You are really getting into it this year. Much love - Mom Reply |
BizB Sun Dec 17 04:31:42 PM News has it that they found a snow-cave and some climbing gear near where the location from where one climber called a relative.
I sure hope those 3 are okay. Reply |
Betty Boop Sun Dec 17 02:18:43 PM I must admit, it is hard to get in the "Christmas spirit" in weather like this. I guess you will have to go to Mount Hood to get snow - they have more than enough there. Reply |
BizB Sun Dec 17 01:27:35 PM I'm only jealous of those people with snow on the ground right now.
Of course, it would be nice to have kitesurfing weather year-round. However, I do enjoy the winter activities, here. Reply |
Betty Boop Sun Dec 17 12:55:36 PM As I write this, it is 49 degrees in Toledo and 83 in Homosassa. Anybody jealous? Reply |
Betty Boop Sun Dec 17 10:00:11 AM You know BBCK will always remember these days with you. The tree is so pretty and I'll bet the cookies are just yummy. You both are having so much fun.

BigBro Sat Dec 16 11:23:52 AM No problems with the surgery. All is well. Drywall is to be delivered to the house on Monday. Hopefully that job will start on the same day. Reply |
Betty Boop Fri Dec 15 07:18:03 AM Yes, there is a phone in his room but we have turned off the ringer as there is no way he can reach it because of all the tubes, etc. attached. BBCK can call him Sat. evening and he will be so pleased to hear from her.
BIGBRO - best of luck with your surgery today. I will call this evening to check on you. Much love.

BizB Thu Dec 14 08:13:44 PM Does he have a phone in his room? BBCK could probably make his day. Reply |
Betty Boop Thu Dec 14 06:50:31 PM POPS doing fine. CPAP stayed home. They told us to only bring the headgear but with all the other stuff on him, there is no room to attach one anywhere. He sleeps only for about 20-30 minutes and has to wake up to get more pain reliever juice! This goes on all day & night - he was reading the paper today and he fell asleep! He even managed to hold the paper in place for about 10 minutes too! Too funny. He was up in a chair for about 1&1/2 hours this morning and ate his lunch in the chair. Tomorrow they will have him walking in the hall 2X. He is doing so well.
HUGS all around. Reply |

BizB Thu Dec 14 08:14:02 AM Did he take his CPAP? I know I typically don't sleep well without it. Reply |
Betty Boop Thu Dec 14 07:03:07 AM Thanks Biz for the post below. Yes, he did well. He has called already this morning and is feeling well although he didn't have a great night - not because of pain or anything like that - he IS in a hospital and some of the gizmos in his room can be noisy if not working properly. I have a new list of stuff he wants brought in!! They will have him up today and so I want to get there A.S.A.P. HUGS to all. Reply |

BizB Tue Dec 12 08:55:49 PM I would offer a wake-up call, but I'd have to call at around 11pm because I couldn't get up that early either.
Love you pops. Good luck and stuff. Reply |
BigBro Tue Dec 12 04:30:24 PM The answer to your scheduling problem really is very simple.
Take him there this evening and drop him off. Don't give him any money and you won't have to worry about the not eating part. Especially because of hospital food being the only thing available.
No problemo! Reply |
Betty Boop Tue Dec 12 04:13:07 PM Re: surgery tomorrow. POPS was scheduled for noon but when we got home this afternoon, there was a message from the hospital to be there at 5:30 a.m. so I guess he got moved from last to first. I don't know what time he will have to start out to be able to walk the seven miles and get there by that time. I sure won't be able to get up and drive him. He said he would take the car and let me walk the trip when I was ready, but now, I ask, you, is that fair? Reply |

Betty Boop Mon Dec 11 05:20:26 PM Beautiful desk! You did good boy! Reply |
BizB Mon Dec 11 12:56:27 PM I wasn't sure about her reaction at first. Let me set the stage for you.
For the trip there, the desk was laying on its back in the bed of my truck. It was covered by a tarp and strapped down with rope. I had stopped around the corner from Tal's house to take off the ropes and stand up the desk. Then, I backed into her driveway so that the front of the desk was facing her back door.
I went in and got her telling her she needed to come see her birthday present. I climbed into the truck's bed and stripped back the tarp in a move that was far less graceful than it would have been if I'd done it the way it appeared to me in my vision of how things would go.
When I turned to look at her, she had her hands over her mouth and she hadn't said a word. She just stood like that for 15 seconds that seemed like an hour. Then, she pulled her hands down and I could see her smile. Then she told me I was the best boyfriend ever and that it was the best birthday present in the history of birthday presents... or something like that.
We left it in the truck overnight and brought it inside on Saturday. Reply |

Betty Boop Thu Dec 07 01:22:20 PM What a sweet story Biz. What fun. I had to come in here first thing this morning but after reading, got coerced into eating breakfast. Then, had fun watching POPS reading the story!! What fun.
Then there is the story below - learning new things is such fun and fun to watch others learning too. You are a wonderful Pappy! Reply |
BigBro Thu Dec 07 12:49:27 PM Some of us (mostly just me) are still discovering... Reply |
BizB Thu Dec 07 08:23:38 AM Oh! I forgot to mention in the update...
'fer brought some spaghetti for MissMBH's dinner. I started feeding her the first few bites, and then I handed her the spoon. She wasn't sure what was going on. She tried handing it back to me. I guided her hand, holding the spoon, into her mouth and then clapped when she pulled it out - sans food.
She immediately stuck the spoon into the bowl of food an pulled it out. Then, she put the spoon back in her mouth. Of course, there was nothing on it and she was disappointed by that. I filled the spoon with food, again, and handed it back to her. Again, she tried to hand it back to me. But, this time, I didn't reach out for it. I just told her to put it in her mouth.
She did.
I clapped.
She dove the spoon into the bowl again.
Each time, I had to load the spoon and hand it back to her. But she had no problem stuffing said spoon into the pie-hole. After a few times, she wanted to feed me. I obliged once... or twice.
It's so exciting to see the little wheels turning as they discover new abilities. Reply |
