Today I got to ride my 5-meter kite for the first time! Winds were blowing from 25mph to almost 40mph in some gusts. I wasn't as powered up as I'd like to be, but I had fun any way. The water seemed much warmer today; though, I don't know how that could be. I had to work that kite really hard to stay on plane and I didn't have the bar/lines adjusted to perfection. As such, my shoulders are aching, tonight. The tracks below represent 2.5 hours of serious work.

That's the difference between you and me, I would have waited until after I drowned the first time, and then unhooked it. ;P

Getting smacked with the board is clearly worse. There have been people that have been severely injured with large cuts and concussions because of board-leashes flinging the board back at the rider. If memory serves, there have even been a couple of people who were killed because the board knocked them out and they drowned.

Thankfully, I removed the leash before I got smacked with it.

which is better losing your board and chasing it all over lake erie or getting smacked with it?

You mean over on the far right side?

That was where I lost my board after a jump and had to walk all the way around the channel/docks to get it. It ended up over by the hotel.

You can see that I walked out to the point on the west side of the channel. That's where I stood looking for my board in the waves. Once I spotted it, I ran around the channel/docks and retrieved it.

There was no need for coffee/coco. I wasn't even a little bit cold, yesterday. 5/3 wetsuits are amazing.

the trace is cool, I can even see where you went for coffee or hot coco.
