Today, I went to Mitchell's bay for a day of kiteboarding. I left the house at around 11 and I arrived at Mitchell's bay at around 12:45. There was a detour from I75 that forced me onto surface streets for about 20 miles.

When I got there, there were 4 or 5 guys sitting on the bumper of their cars waiting for the wind to fill in. It was only blowing at 10 mph at that point. I waited, too. After about 30 minutes of sitting around, without saying a word, everyone started to mill about and put their gear in order. I rigged my 14 meter kite to start out - assuming that it would fill in better and I'd be well powered. After about 90 minutes of riding the 14 and working entirely too hard to stay powered, I decided to take a short break and get some Gatorade. Reluctantly, I pumped up and rigged the 20 meter kite. I figured that doing so would either piss off mother nature and she'd smite me by providing nuking winds, or I'd be well powered on the 20 for the remainder of the day. The latter was the case. I jumped higher than I've ever jumped before and I got better and better at timing my jumps so that I wasn't crashing and I was getting good height. I got home around 9:15pm after a very long drive home. It was quicker than the trip up there, but it felt like twice as long because I was so tired. I have GPS tracks for the day, but the program that I use to put them on the image doesn't seem to be working right. I got in almost 30 miles of kiting today! And, my max speed, according to the GPS was 26mph. I can believe that.

Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday look good in the coming week - but for the rain.

Sometimes it just as quick to take 94 over to 275 or even 23 and avoid 75
