Deal or Big Deal?

Some deals are too good to pass up. This was one of them. I picked up $2,340.00 worth of kites for $320.00. First, I bought the 12 meter Liquid Force Menace. Once I saw the condition it was in, I had to buy the other one. The 17 meter version was just as pristine.
The logo on the side of the kite is pretty cool  .
Here's a shot of the 2 kites together  .
These kites, unlike my old kites, have what are called self-rescue-handles  . When you run into trouble and you need to pack up the kite while you're in deep water, you can use these handles to hold the kite up like a sail and allow it to pull you ashore. This doesn't require as much wind as you're holding the kite in your hands, not flying it. I've never had to do it, but I've seen Ryan do it a couple of times and I've practiced it a few times.
The only thing I had to change was the connectors on the front lines  . In that picture, you can see that there's a small slit that will allow water to drain off. That's new for me, too. I don't know how much use it'll be, but it certainly can't hurt.
One of the best features of the LF Menace is the "Spider Inflation" system. Each strut valve is connected to a thin black hose  .
Those hoses all lead to a single inflation point  . This means that I only have to pump in 2 spots. They're right next to eachother, too.
The center line on these kites are similar to the center lines on my 20 meter Yarga (which is now for sale)  .

There are lots of little touches on this kite that make an impression   but don't really add to the functionality of the kite.
The backpack is really nice. It's large  and has 3 straps on the front where one could attach their bar/lines. You could use that flap to hold your board if you had to walk your whole kit any kind of distance. Luckily, I don't have to do that.
When you fold that big flap down, you reveal 2 good size pockets - perhaps for a sandwich?? 
If you don't need the flap, there's a zippered pouch that you can tuck it into  .
The straps on the back are nice and thick  .
There's another pocket on the side that could hold a small pump, I suppose  . I don't think I'll end up using that for anything.
If you don't want to cary it like a backpack, there's a regular cary handle on the side  .
I only had a chance to fly the 12 meter kite while I was in Florida. There wasn't really enough wind to even get up on plane. It did behave well in the light winds, though. We're supposed to get some wind on Sunday. We'll see if I can get out and ride.

Oh, that's funny. It's spam! On this site, I have a filter that makes sure that the email comes from a select group of people. I couldn't do that on SFR because I had no idea who would be sending the pictures. So, it just accepts anything from anybody. I can delete it when I get home.

That's great news on the knee. Now, just build up your stamina again and you'll be back to the old days when you were 70.
I'm not giving up winter kiting. I am giving up the mountain boarding, though. I didn't really like the ice-skate part of the mountain board. To use it, you need clean ice. When you have clean ice, it's nearly impossible to set up, launch and fly a kite. Walking is another story altogether. With the snowboard, I can ride with very little snow on the ice or a lot of snow. Sheer-ice is about the only thing on which I can't ride the snowboard.

Biz as you know I was having problems with bursitis in my knee when you where here, well another week of rest has almost cleared up that problem and I was able to resume some walking at the mail yesterday. I am still using the cane but I suspect it is only as a security blanket.
It looks to me that they are making the kites more user friendly, and with more safety features!! I had no idea you had gathered together so much gear. Are you giving up winter kitting as you have your Mountain board up for sale?
