Rather than trying to make this a full-blown update with lots of text, let me make it short and sweet.
WEEK 3 CYO Cross Country at Scott Park Campus
  • BigBro came for the race!
  • Bubbles finished 8th on her team!
  • Bubbles finished 60th overall!
  • Bubbles finished in 7:30!
7:30 and 60th are personal bests and she was excited that BigBro was there to see it.

Biz, Thanks for all the great pics. Btw BBCK is not fooling anybody. I'm guessing Kierstin and Breanna are her security blankets but she needs to be running with Caroline and Jacqueline. It could be the bridge that we've been looking for with her. Running with older girls she can talk with might do the trick. She could have done that distance (1.5m) and looked better then the red faces I saw from those two. I think we just do it and not yak about it.

coach td BBCK hasn't been fooling me since the LCRC run last year. That was the race where she posted a 9:03. Before that, at MBSP, she kept up with some of the faster kids as far as the bottom of the hill. She only fell behind as they rounded the pond. Check who she's running with in this picture . She's not greased lightning and she doesn't have the stamina of a marathon runner, but she has a good base and the rest is determined by with whom she runs. She can play up-to several levels higher, or she can let herself fall back and keep someone else company. I need to figure out the key to getting into her head and making her WANT to feel the rush that she did when she ran the 9:03. She bragged about that run for quite some time.

We didn't have to DO anything!

I have some video of the girls playing on the swings. I just need to put it on YouTube. I'll send you the link via email since names were used in the video.

The leaves on trees have just begun to turn, almost like they were waiting for a offical notice on the calander that fall had arrived. For me the end of Fall is the real end of a year, ending in late October or early November when the first real winds of winter rip the last remnants of the leave from the trees, leaving only the skeletons standing waiting until April when the green will start returning.

Bigbro asked me to share this. It made him think of our cross country kids.

    A little ollie
    Just riding
A jump right as I'm going off screen at the end
And, to end the day, I ride into the tripod

Btw a few numbers to know for down the road. College athletic scholarships amount to $2 billion a year. Academic scholarships account for $22 billion a year. Run to win, study to prevail.

Separated at birth: BigBro and Peter Frampton! Thanks for coming and being there. I hope you're there next week. Maybe you can bring your guitar and I can weasel you in for the national anthem.

Unfortunately, they don't offer athletic scholarships at the high school level any more. She's going to have to do it based on grades and admissions testing.

I am so very proud of you Bubbles - BTW, I like your new moniker! Don't ask, look it up! Keep that up and you will have your scholarship.

Big Bro - you are also looking great. It has been years since I saw you that slim. Now I have to work on me.
