Geocaching with MiddleBro
2008-01-12
Today, I went geocaching with MiddleBro (Temporary name until he actually comes up with a screen name). We had fun. It started out with a nice visit at his house where we sat and caught up on things for about a half an hour. Then, MiddleBro and I went off to find our booty while Cindy stayed home. I guess she's fighting off a cold and didn't feel like going out. No biggie. I'll drag her out next time.

The first cache we found was over by ABC Warehouse. Next, we move 2/10 of a mile south and found one right by Allied Records. The third cache was behind McDonalds at Southwyck followed by another in the K-Mart parking lot (sort of.) Then, we were off to find one in front of the old Jed's restaurant at Heatherdowns and Reynolds. Things were going really well. The caches were all pretty easy to find. Two of the last three caches gave us some problems.

Cache 6 was in the woods near Hill and Richards. The GPS kept telling us it was 100+ feet in one direction and then when we'd start walking in that direction, it would say that it was 100+ feet in the opposite direction. At one point, we walked back to the car to see if there were any hints on the web page that could clue us in. There was... sort of. Eventually we were able to find it, though. MiddleBro put in a lottery ticket and took US Flag lapel pin for his first ever geocaching prize.

Just down the road from that cache, in Sleepy Hollow Park, we were able to find a nice easy cache and part-one of a two part multi/mystery cache. The second part required us to do some math and enter in some new coordinates based on the results of our calculations. But, the new location didn't seem like a likely place for us to "find" the second cache. The new coordinates took us to the corner of Dorr/Richards where there's an old tree in the spot where the GPS was pointing. Turns out, that was exactly where we were supposed to be looking. Though, we weren't supposed to "find" anything there. All we needed to do is describe the "very very old thing" to the cache owner to get credit. I emailed him tonight and informed him that I thought the very old thing was the beautiful old tree. We'll see if I was right.

I put a new thingy in on the family page. take a peek and add your thoughts.

I think another one we can work on is our FIRST memory. Put that gray matter to use.

I have written a new item for the other page. Would you like me to post it or wait to see what else you can come up with? I sure don't want to take over the site but I have nothing but time.

Driving. It's cheaper to drive the new car than it is to fly. The same couldn't be said of the Hemi.

My total cost to drive is about 1/2 what it used to cost.

I have updated the cribbage score. I had to wait until I lost. Cant update on a winning streak as it shoots it all to h.e.double hockey sticks.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend. Flying or driving?

I need to put another update on here, soon. I'm going to Baltimore this weekend. Perhaps we'll do something worth posting about.

I miss all the comments we used to make to each other here. I looked a couple of times a day to see what might have been written. Lets not forget this page.

Sherry, thanks for your comments on the other site. Your insight is perfect.

Bubbles, congratulations on your back flips. Love the movie clip. Call me sometime.

No, that's a test page from a plotter here at work. I thought it was funny because it's like 2' X 3'.

YIPPEE!! I just won my first Scrabulous game with POPS - 324/163. You guys are making me a better player. Taz doing a bang up job too!

We are in the start of our first (I think) tornado warning in Citrus county which should last until 10 tonight. We only get warnings on TV and on our weather alert radio. When we got back from lunch at about 1:30, I was so tired I put my jammies on and I'm not changing!! To hell with it.

OK now that we all under stand we can all go on from here. I hope to hear more from Taz as I always have enjoyed his wit, which blends in so nicely with this sorta functional family.
Love Y'all

My number 1 rule is that I don't want any association between this site and the family site. That means no mentions of our last name here.

My number 2 rule is that Bubbles may not use her real name anywhere other than the family site.

Other than that, I really don't care about real names being used.

Thats ok Taz and I have broad shoulders, we can take it. In my senior moment I confused Taz with Talix, just have to read more succinctly*.

rule #1 is no names. You used Cat Lady's name in a posting. I don't get picking on your brother's punctuation as he takes after his dad. Haven't you noticed?

Panda Bear: Eats, shoots and leaves.

Punctuation is important!

Taz's post should read:
HI ALL. TAZ is fine with me, BUT you broke your #1 rule. CAT LADY will work for her. Where did you come up with those pics? CAT LADY wants to see more please! Send me all you have!!!! LOVE YA ALL!!!

I don't know what he meant by broke the #1 rule. The rest I think I figured out correctly.

We did, indeed. The whole fam-damly stopped by. Of course, I timed dinner to finish at exactly the wrong moment. :(

Thing 1 is so busy all the time. Doing, doing, doing.

'Fer and Cookie looked good. I'm glad they stopped over!

I didn't have my surgery today because of the problem POPS developed Sat. He is having bladder spasms for which he got a prescription late yesterday. It has helped some but he is still not right. (Yes, I can hear you chuckling and that is why I wrote it that way.)

BIZ - you are a scrabble genius as I said yesterday.

I have all the old pictures. I took that picture after a discussion started on a site that I frequent. The discussion was a result of this collection of Olan Mills images...

http://listoftheday.blogspot.com/2007/09/great-olan-mills-photos.html

I did stumble across a picture of myself as a baby and I think Thing 2 looks like me. Have a look at the photo I just posted from my phone and tell me if you agree.

I think I'm going to go through all of the old black-and-white pics from when you (BB & Pops) were young and put together a collection of old pics in a large frame. I think that would be a neat piece of "art".

Biz - the pic you posted this morning - did you take a photo of them at Taz' yesterday or do you have them at your house? Pops thinks maybe at Taz' but I thought you had them all!

Also, see if you can find the movie of 'fer taking his first steps if you have the time. It would be fun to see who Thing 1 looks like. Did you find ones of you as a baby to see if Thing 2 looks like you as you thought earlier? I know I had curly blonds as a youngster but not that curly.

I don't thing we told you we had to buy a new printer last week and pops has had fun putting new photos on my desk for me.

I just had to cancel my planned surgery for tomorrow as POPS is having some problem with his plumbing. I will get it done after he is feeling better. I think he will try to see one of his MDs tomorrow. This treatment series were harder on him than we anticipated.

Sounds like a fun thing to do on a winter day with your "little bro" since he is the smallest of all of you. He is built like my grandfather whom I loved. He looks like my great-grandfather though. I have a very old picture here with him in it. I have no idea where it came from but am glad to have it. Little bro is definitely my side of the family. Big bro is his father and you are more like the twins but the male version. Both the girls had/have long, long legs.

The ABC here is a "state" store or a pizza/chic wing eatery. I think we took you and Bubbles there.

Pops just showed my the pictures you posted. I would love to have a copy of those here. Also, FYI, I made the suits you guys were wearing in the pic of the three of you. In the family pic, I made my green jumpsuit. It looked very chic in those days! Now, I can't thread a needle!! Boo, hoo!!

I see pops posting and agree, so forget "little bro".

Middle Bro has always been "Taz" a likely name I would think, and you could come up with the appropriate icon to go along with it.
