Session 5 - Much improved
2008-03-07

Session 5 on the season with 11 miles of tracks laid down. I ducked out of work at 4 because I got there early and I didn't take much of a lunch. When I arrived at MBSP, Ryan was there and had just dropped his kite to take a break. We chatted while I pumped up my 9 meter kite. After I was rigged, we were off and running for about an hour and 1/2. The snow that is on the ground at MBSP is the same snow that we got the other day. It's hard-packed now and fast as ice. The runs that you see back and forth on the inland pond were speed runs. I hit a max speed of 30mph again. That's pretty impressive given the winds that we had.

It didn't feel as gusty as that chart shows. My cheeks were burning when I was done because I left my neck-gator and my hat at home. Ryan was kind enough to lend me a hat. I'll have to buy him a brewski sometime for that one. Thanks Ryan!

Blizzard Bill is still saying that we could get some snow tomorrow depending on which track that storm takes. It could be as little as an inch, or as much as 15. Right now, he's saying that the bulk of the snow will hit Sandusky and east. So, it looks like I'm going to have to drive a bit to play tomorrow.
