Update 2 from Fla
2008-03-26
Let's start with an image dump from the trip down and Sunday's inaugural alter service for Bubbles.
Update Two Update Two Update Two

Update Two Directly after the mass, we went over and picked up uncle Taz and then hit the road. We hit Cincitucky right on schedule. And, of course, Florence Y'all.

Update Two

Each time we stopped, be it for gas, or for a potty break, the bus pictured here seemed to catch up and pass us. Shortly after we got on the road again, we would pass him. This happened about 4 times on Sunday. I took a lot of pictures in Tennessee, but they never really turn out with the same degree of awe that you feel when you see these scenes appear to you in person. I suppose your mind is capable of eliminating the view of the road in front of you and the traffic and whatever else ugly is really there.

My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim. I had to stop for the night. We probably could have done it all in one shot, but I don't sleep well in the car so I would have been really really tired on Monday if we had driven through. Plus, we would have arrived at the 'rents' house at around 4am. That wouldn't have gone over well at all.
Day's Inn and Waffle house anyone?
Update Two Update Two
Update Two Good Lord, Georgia is monotonous after the first 20 minutes. Taz drove through Tennessee and Georgia and I took over in Florida. We are having a really nice visit so far.
Update Two Update Two

Today, I tried to go kiteboarding. Unfortunately, the wind blew out of the east all day Sunday and Monday and it blew hard. Then, to make matters worse, it was almost low tide when I got to the beach. Places that were chest-deep last year were sandbars today. I suppose I could have still given it a go if there was a clean wind. That wasn't the case though. It would blow 20 then drop to nothing. Then, it would gust to 30+.

After the skunk, I went to lunch with the 'rents. As you can see in the second picture, below, there's a sail boat laying on its side because there wasn't enough water in the bay. These pictures are from the outdoor section at the restaurant.

Then, we went to the wildlife center. Same as last year and the year before. This was for Taz's benefit. Here's the image dump from the park.

Plus, eventually, there will be no more tuition and child support every month. Just pretend it is there and sock it all away. Continue to live as you do now - i.e. the house you own now and you will do just fine. Some of the down fall we are seeing in the economy is the fault of the consumer buying more than they could afford when that rainy day comes. We never really lived beyond your dad's salary - except for the boats!!

Hang in there , you're turn will come and the$$$$ will build up once we get rid of this administration, or lack of.

Got more ideas. How 'bout a course or 2 that would allow you to run from your house while I head from tedrow to you. We meet where ever, you run back with me and I give you a ride home. Your run would be approx. 2 3/4 miles. Option #1 would involve the tracks just west of you which I've run or #2 would mostly be Detroit ave. Interested????? I do agree it'd be too far and probably not much fun for Bubbles. P.S to Betty Boop: If you have no funds to spend now then that crazy r word doesn't mean a whole bunch.

I have to stay healthy. I'll never be able to retire.

note to you & your running friends - Don't be so heart healthy that you out live the funds you are able to put aside for your "old age". You need lots of $$$ to keep going once you reach the age of your parents now. If we were still employed, our employers would have to fire us because we need so much time off for doctor visits.

P.S. - our house is soooo quiet. And this morning, our renting neighbors left. Friends are going next Monday and come this time May, about 1/3 of our residents will be going north. We will have lots of room in the pool.

Maybe.

Though, I have Bubbles next week and it'll be difficult for me to pick up Bubbles and get there by 5:30.

Plus, I don't know that she could run 4+ miles at this point. (read: This is me saying that 4+ miles at your pace would kill me)

The following week, I'm Bubbles-free, so I could certainly join you that day.

RE: FL plates - I wish there was only one!! I loved the old one with the FL map on it! So sad that we have 100+.

Taz remarked on how many different license plates Florida has. Well, it appears that 100 isn't enough.

It sure is good to be home.

I'm going to be working on some updates to the site over the next few days/weeks. I don't want to do one big update and freak people (the 'rents) out with a change. Instead, I'll be introducing them one at a time.

The first change is already in place. Check out the Phone Cam Archive page.

On my list of things to add/update:
* A search feature that will allow you to search the comments section or the text in the updates - or both.
* A change to the comment input box that will allow anyone to quickly and easily change the way their comments appear.
* A new feature related to the phone camera that will allow me to do add a sound file describing the image.
* A new feature that will allow me to write an update from my phone including images, movies, text and sound.
* A new feature that will allow any of you to add pictures to the phone cam section. This will also include a label on the display saying who sent the image.

Well, we had to say "good-bye" this morning. They just hit the road when I discovered Bubbles had forgotten her new sweat shirt I bought her and, thank goodness for cell phones, I was able to reach them before they got far so they came back for it and we got to say goodbye again.
We had a wonderful visit and a special thanks to Taz's wife for giving him the time with us. We have lovely memories of this visit. It was so fun to watch Taz each time he discovered some new FL thing. He really showed such joy in everything! We are so happy to have him back in the family unit.
Bubbles and Biz had a great time too. Bubbles loves the pool and her dad played with her every day but I missed out on that part because I am still restricted with the cast and then yesterday I got that off but am now in a brace for a few weeks. There will be other times! Biz didn't get to kite surf as he had hoped because of low water (wind from the NE dropped the levels) and not nearly enough winds. They had a nice visit in spite of that though. We are always so happy to have family to come! Thanks to all for the wonderful time

We are really having our "boys" here - yes Bubbles too - but, like last night when we were watching a movie, it was just like being back in the home where they grew up! We haven't laughed this much in months! All that is missing is Big Bro and the wives of both the older bros. Our house is at capacity with these tho!!

LOVIN IT!!!
