Yesterday, we were promised nuclear winds all day. They didn't get here until late in the evening. I did get in a morning session on the 12 meter kite and I had a couple of jumps but nothing revolutionary or new. I was on and off the water for about two and 1/2 hours. It was really gusty and there were lots of lulls. It certainly wasn't what was forecast. To make matters worse, my bladder popped by pushing through the small hole where the nipple sticks out. Somehow, the nipple wasn't seated correctly and the thin bladder material pushed through. I repaired the hole with a sticker from RedSky before the session even started and had just a slow leak to contend with.

Around 5:30, I went back to MBSP for another session. When I got there, Patrick was flyiing his 13 meter and had just come in to get a bigger board because he was uner powered. I pumped up any way. By the time I was rigged, Patrick had come back in to switch back to his smaller board. The wind was obviously coming up. It continued to do so, too! I walked my lines and got on my wetsuit and then I walked out to set up my kite for launch. When I lifted it, it felt soft, so I decided to pump it up a little firmer before going out. I think I pumped it too much because when I flipped the kite over to ready it for launch, the leading edge exploded and ripped through the material. There's about a 2-foot long rip.

2008 has not started well. I'll be headed out to Quantum Sails tomorrow to get an estimate on fixing both kies. I suspect it'll be $300 or so. Plus, it will probably take 2 weeks.

Depressed? Yeah, a bit.
