Camden Yards


On Sunday, Tal and I took in a Orioles vs Red Sox game at Camden Yards. We had to park about 3/4 of a mile away and walk past the stadium where the Ravens play. In front of that stadium, there's a Johnny Unitis statue that I thought was worth taking a snapshot of. I think he wears the number 19 better than Bernie Kosar did, but not as well as Stevie Yzerman.

As you approach the Camden Yards facility, there's a monument dedicated to the veterans who have fought and served for our country. Along the left side, there's an urn containing soil from military cemetaries throughout the world.

Multipart Update We entered through this gate and went to walk along the street next to the stadium - still inside the stadium, though. This guy Multipart Update was giving all Boston fans a bad name by popping his collar. Just to the left of the edge of this picture, there's a gate that allows you to go out onto the flag balcony which overlooks right field and provides a fair look at the jumbo scoreboard.

Multipart Update Major league ball parks never look as big in person as they do on TV. As we walked back out onto the street, I noticed the sign on the left. They aren't kidding, either. On the sidewalk just outside the park, they mark the approximate location of where home run balls have landed in the past.

The mascot was up to typical mascot duties. He had one woman's head in his beak and had I been a little quicker on the shutter, I'd have gotten a picture of it. Multipart Update Multipart Update It was a good game. Boston kicked butt. Manny hit is 501st homerun and Lowell followed that with one of his own. We left after the 4th inning, but the game was pretty much over by then.

Kites


I went and picked up my kites, today. I was not impressed. The sewing wasn't clean like I've seen from Quantum in the past. Plus, they sewed right through the leading edge bladder on the 9 meter kite. They also appeared to have changed the shape of the trailing edge of the pannel that had ripped. I haven't flown it yet, so I don't know if this will affect the way it handles. Let's hope not.

Having been a Wings fan for most of my 70+ years I agree with you Taz. I used to listen to wings cames on Sunday night on WJR as the signal would come in at night in the Mtl. area after dark. I was only 8 or 9 and would put my radio under the covers so the light from the tubes wouldn't shine under my bedroom door and get me in trouble. Gordie Howe was my favorite player and I hated Maurice Richard.

the goalies crease has always been sacred ground and the opposition should know enough to keep out of the way of the goalie, for anything goes in that area including a penalty.

Betty Boop, you need that glowing puck feature that everyone else hated. With digital TV, that should be on option that you can turn on/off.

I stayed up and watched the whole thing. I really have to wonder why it's a penalty (goalie interference) to run into the most heavily padded guy on the ice. Somehow, though, he's allowed to get in the way of other players behind the net, and that's perfectly ok.

I hate that they handle OT differently in the finals than they to in the regular season.

-- Was taken at Cabelas. They have an indoor trout stream and this big mountain with lots of stuffed stuff.
