Taz, we missed you last night. Iron Man was a GREAT movie and, as usual, it was really more about the company than the movie. I know you said you haven't been in a movie theater in decades and you have no interest, but we need you to come with us next time!
The evening started at Big Bro's where we decided that we were going to grab a bite to eat and then see Iron Man. For dinner, I decided on BW3
Newbus ordered a Molson's while Big Bro and I both ordered Sam Adams Summer Wheat. I didn't expect them to bring me a 22oz glass, but that's what I got. I finished about 1/2 of it and gave the rest to Big Bro instead of him ordering a second glass. When our food arrived, it was warm, but not hot. As usual, it was delicious and up to BW3's standards. Our waitress was really nice and just nice enough but not annoying. I mean, she didn't try to hang out and talk to us, but she was attentive and prompt and funny. While we were at BW3, Newbus called 'fer and told him to meet us at the theater at 9:20.After dinner, we went out to the car and the tornado siren sounded. To the east, the sky was cloudy, but not dark at all. To the west, it was dark and eerie. To the southwest, it was even worse. Most of the time any more, tornado sirens are just doppler indicated and nothing ever comes of it. Besides, if it's your time to go, it's your time to go. We weren't going to be any safer driving around looking for a more secure shelter than we would be if we just went to the theater and stood in the hallways. Big Bro has a pretty solid understanding of the construction of the Maumee theater - having worked on the steel - and he said that the corridors were probably the safest place in the building. When we got to the theater, 'fer met us in the back lot and we went inside to get our tickets and find our theater. Movie tickets are $10.00, now. I had no idea. I think the last time I went to a full price movie rather than a matinee was when Bubbles and I went to the movies in Florida and I know it wasn't $10 there. $8.50, maybe.
 Our movie was shown in theater 18 which is a director's hall. That means leather reclining seats. Very nice. The movie was very entertaining. Go see it. I can't wait until the DVD comes out so I can watch it again. There wasn't any one point where I thought the CGI was poorly done. During the first few minutes of the movie, they interrupted over the intercom system and informed us that the Maumee siren had gone off and that the hallways were the safest place to be - confirming what Big Bro had told us. They did this twice during the first 10 minuets of the movie. Just after the second announcement which included an invitation to go to guest services and get a raincheck if you decided to leave, 'fer got a call from Cookie who was quite scared. 'fer, being the great guy that he is left immediately. I hope he got the raincheck because shortly after he left, they used the intercom again to tell everyone that even if they were staying for the movie, they could stop at guest services on their way out and pick up a raincheck good for any movie any day. So, we each have a free movie night coming soon. In any case, I'm glad he left when he did. His beautiful girls (including Cookie of course) are way more important than a movie or a raincheck. |
