Last night, I set up the tent in the backyard for a campout since I couldn't afford to rent a campsite for two nights - which, by the way, is the minimum when either of the days is a Friday or a Saturday. I had originally planned on crashing out there with the girls, but later decided that I wasn't in the mood to drag my CPAP out there. I did pump up the air mattress for them, though. Backyard Camping + Summer Fun Run + Lake Swim Backyard Camping + Summer Fun Run + Lake Swim Backyard Camping + Summer Fun Run + Lake Swim Backyard Camping + Summer Fun Run + Lake Swim Shortly before I went to bed, some boys from around the block started talking to the girls over the fence. I told the girls to get into the tent and stay there. Then, I watched from the upstairs window to make sure they did as I said. All was good.

This morning, we went to our first Saturday Summer Fun Run for the season. It was a good time! Coach TD put together a couple of really fun relay games. The first one was the Crusty Crab Relay. The goal was to crab walk while keeping a Sponge Bob action figure on your belly. Backyard Camping + Summer Fun Run + Lake Swim Backyard Camping + Summer Fun Run + Lake Swim Backyard Camping + Summer Fun Run + Lake Swim The next relay involved running with a big straw hat and a lei. The hat was big and floppy and required the runners to hold it on!

After that, we had the traditional ice-pops for a snack. Backyard Camping + Summer Fun Run + Lake Swim One of the kids spotted a caterpillar on a tree and that seemed to hold the atention of some of the kids Backyard Camping + Summer Fun Run + Lake Swim.

After a quick stop home and some lunch, we went up to Brest Bay marina to play with the boats, do some swimming, and play with Stupid. She really seemed to like swimming, but only for short distances.

Ok people, it's 11:00 and I've had one of the busiest days of my life, today. I started writing an update at around 9:30 and I'm still not done. Be ready for a big one! I hope to get it finished tomorrow, but there's wind in the forecast. We'll see. You know where my priorities are!

'fer was in the "WEEKEND!" commercial for Ace Appliance. We all knew about that one.

I didn't hear anything of him being in a new commercial for Buckeye.

Oh... and I'm home again. Lots of pictures to post later. A good time was had by all!

The next showing (here) is Sunday @ 1p.m. Did you get a DVR also? I hope they offer that there as we can record things like Letterman and watch it whenever.

Actually, I do have cable (including Nat Geo), now. I want to be the Cesar Millan of Toledo. I see so many people who don't know how to deal with their dog(s). It's a shame.

I haven't seen the 8-limb girl surgery, but I saw the commercials for it. It does look like a great story.

Plans for this weekend:
Today, take care of household stuff and fix the tent while Bubbles is at Cedar Point with her mom.
Saturday/Sunday, Bubbles, Bunny and myself are going camping at Hudson Lake Recreation Area in Michigan. I just added "camera" to the list of things to pack, ,so I should have a good update on Monday night.

Monday, when I get home, I have to drop off the girls and go in for a full (maybe) day of work. In any case, if there's no wind, I'll try to put up an update on Monday. Looks like I may have wind on Tuesday.

BIZ - Maybe we need to call in the dog whisperer to cure her - whoops, make the girl whisperer. I wish you got National Geographic - some of the shows there are wonderful.
Last night we watched the little girl born in India with 4 arms and 4 legs - her parasitic twin, and her remarkable surgery - done there in India. I was so happy her parents decided to let her have the life saving surgery. She was named after a goddess with 4 arms and legs and revered in Indian religions. This little girl was special to all the residents of her community who were against the surgery. After it was done, the family went to another village to live. A very good show.

BIZ - what ever happened to make Bubbles so afraid of storms? You guys never had that fear which I got from her few texts last night. Poor little thing. It made my heart ache for her.

Hadn't planned on todays events but it started at 9:15 when I called the docs office to get script revised and the cuttie said but we will see you at 10;45 you can see the doc then.
after a mad dash and a hectic drive we made it there by 11:15.

The long and the and the short of the day is that I am doing well and all the steri strips are long gone. I am happy and will write more in the AM when I'm not so overtired and maybe a pic of the incission!

NEWS FLASH - No walker today. He found last night that he could walk better with just his cane. Yesterday, I took it easy on him but today, I am a stern taskmaster. He has to walk at least once an hour - but just to the end of the driveway and back for today. His legs are "rubbery" but they won't get stronger if he does not use them, right?

At the hospital he was found to have COPD (congested obstructive pulmonary disease) along with the emphizema which was diagnosed earlier this year and the doctors there asked him if he wanted oxygen ordered for home use but we will let our local internist decide if he needs it yet. Oh the joys of aging.

Thanks again for your prayers, angels, etc. Keep 'em coming, please. While, I think of it - we are really doing okay in spite of the COPD news. This is just the lungs not getting quite the right amount of oxygen but he had a 5 1/2 hour surgery and then was on his back for another 14 hours after that. He will be checked again soon and I will keep you informed. Promise.

WE ARE HOME!! Pops doing well but still using the walker for a few days. His therapy is just walking. Within 6 weeks, he should be walking a mile. Still sleepy a lot of the time but sooooo glad to be home. Love to all and thanks for your concerns, prayers, angels, etc. Will talk soon.

One of my favorite memories was when I bought tickets (with money earned scooping icecream)and took Pops to see George Carlin in concert at the old fieldhouse. We sat on the bleachers at one end of the court, so we saw the show from the side. Always funny. I have a feeling his headstone will be some how ironic.

YES I saw George live in the 70s he made me laugh till I cried !!! But one of my favorite skits was about him and Richard Pryer He said....
Richard had a heart attack so I had a heart attack Richard had another heart attack so I had another heart attack !!!
Then Richard lit himself on fire smokin cocaine .....I decided to just have another heart attack!!!!!

While I didn't agree with any of his politics - which dominated his routine in the later years - I really admired George Carlin.

It didn't end well.

Last night, I allowed Bubbles and 2 friends to sleep in the tent again. Then, this morning, they were all playing in the backyard. Bubbles had a drama-queen moment and stormed off into the tent. Of course, her friends followed. One of the girls stepped on the center divider inside the tent and ripped the tent pretty badly in four different places. I'm fairly pissed.
