Ok, before I tell the awful tale of Sunday's events, I'll share a picture of Bubbles from our Summer Fun Run on Saturday. We played a game where each team did laps on the perimeter track at the Lucas County Rec Center. For each lap they completed, they got to roll the dice. A lap on a bike counted for one roll of the dice. A lap on roller blades counted for two rolls of the dice. And, had there been any runners, each lap they completed could have earned them three rolls of the dice. Bubbles roller bladed and completed 2 laps (I think. It may have been 3.) After all the dice rolling was done, the scores were added together and either the higher or lower team would have won... if it hadn't been a tie. The winning team was going to get to use the whipped cream can for fun and profit. Ok, really just for fun. Since the score was tied, both teams got one can each.
Later on Saturday, Bubbles and I went to see Get Smart. Great movie! I encourage you to see it. Lots of laughs and lots of references to the original series.
Now, on to the shame of Sunday. At around noon, Bubbles and I were looking for something to do. I offered the option of driving to Sandusky and taking the bikes across to Kelly's Island on the ferry. Then, I looked into the price of doing that. It would have cost $34 for the round trip ferry ride with our bikes. For that price, I decided we could go to Cedar Point using the Starlight ticket. So, at around 3:30pm, we hopped in the car and drove to Cedar Point by way of Bubbles's mom's house where we picked up Bubbles's season pass.
By 5:30, we were in line to get our tickets.
As we stood there, a man walked up and said, "Here, save yourself some money." and he handed me an unused ticket.
Apparently it was one of those corporate sponsored events tickets. Like when a company does their summer picnic at the park. We were stoked! Free entry to the park! We headed straight for The Raptor.
30 minutes later, we were off the Raptor and on our way over to Max Air.
I've never ridden Max Air before. It's a large pendulum ride with a spinning seating platform at the bottom.
It's a really cool ride with lots of negative Gs and considerable speed. Unfortunately, I'll never ride it again. This may be like the Kix cereal thing. It may be all in my head. But, I promise you, I will never sit on that ride again. Why? I'm glad you asked. I threw up.Imagine the shame washing over me as you read this. I've never thrown up after riding any ride. I'm blaming the heat. Yeah. That's it. The heat caused it! Seriously, I was fine while we were on the ride. Didn't even feel a little queezy. Then, as soon as I stepped off the ride, the urge to blow chunks was unstoppable. I made it over to the bushes and threw up there. Then, I retrieved my upper plate - which falls out every time I throw up - and made a B-line to the bathrooms to wash up.
Unfortunately, I was able to regain any sense of digestive normalcy for some time after that. We went into Disaster Transport to enjoy the air conditioning but ducked out at the last emergency exit because the line was moving way too slow. After that, Bubbles rode Wicked Twister by herself while I stood and watched. Then, we left. Two whole hours is all we spent inside the park.
