On Sunday, I joined Big Bro at Cedar Point for his company's picnic. We left here around 11 and were at the park by 12:30. I've never been required to park this far back in all of my trips to Cedar Point. We were in the last row of the main section of the parking lot. Evening the score We were greeted, after a very long walk, by the familiar ride right inside the park's gates. Evening the score After a quick trip to the little boys room, we went to The Raptor. The wait was nowhere near as long as the sign indicated. Evening the score I think we were in line for just about an hour. Not bad considering the parking lot and the sign's initial indicators of what the day was going to be like. From there, we rode the Wicked Twister as it was on the way to the pavilion where lunch was being served. Evening the score Then, on to lunch which was provided by Big Bro's employer. There were hot dogs and chicken along with potato salad and baked beans (hot). They also supplied drinks and ice cream for dessert. Evening the score Evening the score The scenery at the park was nice. Though, I'm sure I'm going straight to hell. Evening the score After lunch, we rode Top Thrill Dragster. We went over the top really quickly. I don't think I've ever had it go so fast in all the times I've ridden it. Still a great ride, though. Evening the score Evening the score Evening the score After TTD, we rode Maverick. I may have a new favorite ride. It ranks right up there with Raptor. Evening the score Evening the score This sign was baffling until we were on the ride. We had a nice long time to sit at the launch pad because the train in front of us failed to make it over the first hill. While we were waiting we asked one of the attendants. The earrings apparently get stuck on the shoulder straps and get ripped out of one's ears. Evening the score From Maveric we rode Milli which will now rank as my 3rd most favorite ride, at best. Evening the score After Milli, we left. It was only just after 8pm, but we'd ridden everything that we really wanted to ride and my feet were sore. On the way home, I decided to take Froggy up on her offer to cut my hair. The last time I got a hair cut, she inquired as to how much I pay for someone to buzz cut my hair. When I told her $15, she said she would do it for free. She has a nice set of clippers. I told her to use a #2 blade guard and just go over the whole brane bucket with that. After the first two passes, I asked when was the last time those clippers had been oiled because they were pulling my hair. "Oil?" was the response. No wonder it was pulling my hair! I told them just about any kind of oil would work. Olive oil, baby oil, mineral oil... anything. They had creamy baby oil so I showed her how to lubricate the blades. After the oil had been applied, Froggy returned to cutting my hair. She made one pass and I pulled my head foreward and turned to look. As I did, I said, "You didn't put the guard back on!" Indeed, she had not. So, there I sat with a nice bare swath on the back of my head. Evening the score Froggy worked hard to even it out. In the end, I think she did a great job. Evening the score

Today, we had our Summer Fun Run at a small park in Rossford that has been set up as a fitness course by Mercy Health Partners. It's an amazing little run. There's no more than 1/10th of a mile between exercise stations and the entire thing is a one-mile circuit. Here are some pictures from the evening's running event.

Sunday morning -> Sunday sunset?

I'll be heading to Maumee Bay State Park Sunday morning with an ETA of 10am. I'm taking plenty to drink and something for lunch, so I will probably not return home until the sun goes down or the wind shuts off - two events that usually go hand in hand.

Mark Packo, the photographer responsible for the great picture of Ryan a couple of weeks ago and the pictures of me back in April, will be there, too. I'm taking my camera just in case.

Thing 1 was so stinkin' cute it wasn't even fair. She sure likes hangin' with grampa Biz and Bubbles. Although she let Biz do the biking work she did indulge in on our stretching session not to mention she bellied right up for ice pop time. She also won the best hair award, shoes, outfit, giggle, and yes, pout. Thanks Biz.

While the back Doctor gave me a year without a visit I still have the pulmonary MD's to contend with and official get of the O2, hen maybe a year without docs is possible.

Back from the back doctor and indeed I did graduate and no longer have to wear the annoying brace. He has sent me to have some PT which will strengthen my core area and I will get them to help me strengthen my left leg as well. I am feeling great and no longer have to suck on the o2 bottle so my walks will be even better now that the brace is gone. I dont have to go back for a year but can go to see him anytime I think I should.

We have more great pics from another photo nut who was at the dance on Sat. We will get them up for all asap. Today we go to Gainesville for a CT scan and then a Dr. Check up. We hope POPS will be released from his brace today so he can get back to the pool, etc. He hasn't been in for at least 2 months. That is almost like winter in Ohio!

lead by example, lead by example and when all else fails, lead by example.

Don't be afraid to ask others for help. Give your helpers (assistant coaches) them tasks and then ask how they will make it happen.

Your boy is on his way home and he has dark circles under his eyes. I hated to see them start out when he was tired. I am afraid this vacation wasn't much fun for them. We are old and set in our ways so it was not what they were hoping for plus POPS is still not up to a lot. We so enjoyed seeing them all and those girls are so sweet (when Miss M is not tired). I can't wait for you to see what Miss N can do now!!!

Most coaches have a particular trait that makes them unique. Your concerns about keeping it fun are real to this age group. No parents are going to complain about their kids coming to practice and having too much fun. Maybe 'fun' is what will make your time as head coach unique. I think it's a great place to start.

I'm scared. I don't like being in charge even though I always seem to find myself in these positions.

I'm constantly second guessing every word that comes out of my mouth and I'm worried that I'm not giving them the tools they need. I worry about them not having fun and hating practice.

I already left two kids on the green trail at practice yesterday. :( Failure of the biggest kind right there.

Coach Biz is now HEAD COACH BIZ. He will direct Bubbles team which consists of about 25 4th, 5th, and 6th graders. Boys and girls, fast and slow, whiners and over achievers, quiet and loud Biz will now have to know each and every name, heh heh. So if anybody wants to know how to help just send boxes of ice pops and seditives. Biz has the biggest team by far and while he has some coaching help now he should get more reinforcements in a week. Last year we had 5 coaches and we used every one. So if you're looking for cute pictures of the latest game they played, forget it. He's busy. Head coaching his team is the fastest hour on the planet. I only had 9 of the 7th & 8th graders show yesterday so we've decided to combine game time on Wednesday and that'll help too. I do believe Biz has a much improved boys team this year and the girls should be top 5 material. Bubbles has a good shot at being a points scoring runner this year but she'll face a strong group of 4th graders used to running up front. It'll be a challenge that she'll need to take seriously because these youngin's mean business. As you can tell I'm exited and happy for the Biz/Bubbles combo. Wish them well.

That's awesome! I love the way Thing1 laughs. She laughs with her whole being.

Last night we had a spaghetti dinner and dance at the club house and I don't need to tell you who stole the show!! Miss M stole the heart of every elder in the place!! I can't remember there ever being so many smiles and/or laughter in that place. She danced every dance and didn't care who she was with as long as she could move those feet. Naturally they all came to love her almost as much as we do. Miss N didn't do too bad either - Sammy stole her right away and walked around with her, showing her off and dancing around the floor with her and then Miss M joined in too as more people got into the act. She even danced the line and chicken dances with the guidance of friends. Our friends put her at the head of the conga line dance - granted it was a slow one, but warmed the hearts of everyone there. Naturally we took credit for her blond curls, her beauty and extreme dancing ability!! If someone did something funny, you could see her shake with laughter!! 'fer danced with both girls and talked Cookie to join him once for a few seconds. Oh, the dinner was good too. Perhaps we can get Biz to insert a pic or two when we get them to him. We will have the happiest of meories of their trip!

'fer & family are here and it has rained since they arrived. Poor kids don't need this with the 2 little girls. Thing 1 & I went for a walk this afternoon and had to run home in the rain. That was fun though. "2" is either hungry all the time or is teething. Fussy sometimes. We are going to a spaghetti dinner at the club house tomorrow night - then they will have dancing. That should be fun watching "1" dance.

We heard from them about 5 times yesterday, a couple of times before they even left. They called about 7:30 this morning - he was about 30 minutes north of Gainesville. Less than 2 hours from us.

You'll want to know for sure that they have some in stock before you make the drive. If they're out of stock online (they are), there is probably a supply problem.

A couple of my friends have raved about the Wii Fit. I haven't played it yet, but it probably wouldn't hurt me at all.

$249 is the MSRP for the console with one controller and the Wii Sports disk. I suggest that you buy the Wii from Best Buy and get the warranty. The warranty that they use would allow you to take a broken Wii into the store and walk out with a new one rather than having to wait for a repair.

Have you seen the Wii Fit game?

It is hard to come by lately. I had already rented Mariokart twice and I've been playing it online with my friends on the weekend.
I happened upon a copy at the Toys R Us when I was buying the kickball for tonight's Summer Fun Run. So, I bought it.

Bubbles and I both love playing it.

It really stinks that we cant play scrabulous any more! How are we going to deal with that? I loved that it really challenged me to think better.

Love the story Biz. You do such a good job and your photos are excellent too. I just can't spot Bubbles in any of the Rossford pics. Was she there? If so what is she wearing?

Great pics Biz. Especially the pic(3rd row down, second from the left) on the trail with Jim and the kids. You must have been running while snapping. All you folks in wonderful world of Biz need to know he found this little treasure and wanted to add to the calendar. We were concerned about the drive time and it's also not easy to find. All went right as the parents found the park and the kids had a blast tuckering themselves out. Our arch enemy Mr. Skeeter and his posse were there but we just kept lathering on the bug juice and as you can see the kids (big kids too) enjoyed the adventure. Thanks Biz.
