Break in... almost
2008-10-02
Today, when I got home after working and then coaching my final cross-country practice, I was greeted by Disney walking up the driveway to greet me. This certainly took me by surprise because he's an indoor cat and he hasn't even tried to get outside in over a year. Before I went inside, I concluded that the wind must have blown the screen out of my upstairs window as that happens from time to time when I don't put it in correctly after taking out the window-AC. I called to him and he came to me. Together, we walked inside. I walked to the kitchen to find that the kitchen window had been broken. Well, the storm window was broken and pulled down from it's normal summer position. The inside window was pushed up about 8-10 inches and the screen had been ripped from the frame.

I don't know exactly when it happened, obviously. However, I was able to narrow it down to between 8:15 and 4:15. I left the house at 8:15 this morning and Bubbles friend dropped off her bike at 4:15. Her friend indicated that the window was like that when she arrived with the bike.

I assume it was kids because a pro a) wouldn't have bothered with my house, b) would have been in and out in the time it took these idiots to fumble with getting through an unlocked window. I'm not worried about it. They can have anything in here that they want - with the exception of Stupid and Diz. Everything else is insured and easily replaced. Sure, it would be a hassle, but whatever... The material things aren't important to me. I reported it to the police and they're supposed to be sending someone over. Lord only knows why. They won't do anything.

I do feel slightly violated, though.

I doubt they will come back - but you never know! I remember how I felt when we got burgled at lot 549 AWFUL!! and then we are all so careful after that but too late!

For our anniversary, (#49 today) we went to Margarita Grill last night with Karen & Jim for our feed on scallops!! Yummy for the tummy. As usual, I was the designated driver but the margaritas looked wonderful. Do you remember how big they were?

I am hoping to see lots of new pics. I haven't seen any since the kids left here in early Aug. This is cruel and unusual punishment.

I'm off work today, so I'm tempted to park my car down the street and sit where I can't be seen.

That would be fun, right?

They didn't get inside as far as I can tell.
Nothing was missing or damaged.
Meh. It's just stuff. The stuff is insured. Karma is a bitch.
