Laptop Dump
2004-09-13
My laptop decided to stop working, yesterday.

I left to pick up Thumper from the airport and when I got back, she was cold. -- Not Thumper... the laptop was cold.

I thought this was odd because I never turn the thing off, so I tried to boot it up and it just kind-of hung there... not doing much of anything.
Tonight, I'm going to try to boot in Linux and see what I get. It may be a while until the next update with pictures. I'll have to do them from here until I get the laptop running again.

Here is the link to the Ivan models

Good to hear.

I got an email from Ashley. She is stuck in NC. Luckily someone was able to go check on their house and save their new kitchen cabinents from flood waters. I guess she had some water in the house. This happened last time too. It comes in through the back door.

I got a call from BigBro after having tried to call the 'rents (without success). He had spoken with them and they're fine. The house is fine. Everything is good.

So much for them waiting this one out. Now they will probably be stuck in traffic.

I just got a call from the 'rents. They've been ordered to bug-out... again.

Maybe Florida can be done with bad weather for a while after this?

For the love of all that is windy... let it come inland at some point. Just... not in FLA.

Here we go again. We are going to wait longer this time to see where Jeanne goes. Ivan is doing a job on TX today. Ma

YOU GO!

Chris said your wireless card is set for WEP enabled and you have not enabled your WEP on the router. You should be able to go wireless by either enabling WEP on the router, or by turning it on in your network settings.

It's working. I don't have the wireless working but the internet access is. One step at a time.

'fer...I need some computer help again. Did you know my router got fried in the lightening storm the week before I went to Bermuda? Well now I'm having problems connecting to the internet because the IP addresses we told it to use are gone. Can we look into getting me a new router this week?

I can't save it or view it from here. maybe I'll try later.

BTW...I'm back from my weekend travels. Aside from everyone having problems getting there and home we had a WONDERFUL time and are all looking forward to our next gathering!

I haven't made that upgrade. The video that you'll find on the internet, generally speaking, has been scaled back so that the file is not HUGE. As it is that file that you just watched was 6.5 megs. If you were to watch that same file full-screen, it would be all grainy and distorted.

I wouldn't bother with the upgrade.

Ok downloaded the quick time player and was impresed. Looks like fun and wish my bones werent so old or I'd be doing it with you. Is it worth while upgrading the player so you can see clips fill screen? Great job Jr.

Try right clicking on the link and selecting "save target as". Then, you'll have to have Apple's Quicktime player to view it.

I assumed that most people have quicktime player. Maybe that wasn't a safe assumption.

I can't take all the credit for the video. My dad helped me with what he wanted it to look like and what he wanted it to do during the video, where to cut the video and all the little details. Then I also have to thank my computer for putting up with the beating that it goes through with the video editting process.

Someone mention my name? I've been getting a lot of mentions lately. Not all good.

I gotta say one thing: I swear I saw it coming, but didn't believe he'd do it. Until, of course, he did it. As always, the ratbastard was right. Trump rules!

Looks like Ivan took the hint.

Someone should tell Ivan that Mardi Gras is in the spring and that New Orleans is windy/wet enough.
