I included the kiteboarding in there because it's cardio. It ended up being a nice warm-up for the long run. Wednesday, I'll do my long run for this week. That will be 36 minutes. Saturday, I'll do my tempo run (faster than comfortable but slower than race speed - if I can figure out what exactly that is). Next week, Monday will be my easy 24 minute run. Wednesday will be my long run - 36 minutes this time (adding 6 minutes each week) and another tempo run on Saturday. |
BizB Sat Oct 25 06:45:04 PM Without any prompting from me, Bubbles opted to spend the night at Grandma's house, so I was free to go play from about 1pm til...
I got to Catawba Island around 2 and I was in the water by 2:30. I only got to ride until about 4p, but it was really great riding.
It's 20 til 8 now and I just got back from my run. Today's run was my long run - 42 minutes at a 10:12/mile pace. Monday, Coach TD and I will be going to Wildwood right after work where he and another guy are going to put me in my place with 8:20/mile pace running. I don't know how many miles yet, but I'd like to think I could get 3 in at that speed without collapsing. Reply |
sopops Sat Oct 25 06:35:17 PM I'm looking at the wind speeds for Sunday and thinking how Cest La Vie would fly, and then my better half reminds me that it just to darn cold. My reply was "we just got started too darn late in life". In hindsight I'm glad we did it when we could, so an old man can have his happy memories, make that an old couple can still look at our pictures of sailing and get a warm feeling. so go for the god and enjoy what ever you can. After I read what I had written, my First mate said "yup". That's down East for Eye-I captain. Reply |
BizB Sat Oct 25 09:31:56 AM Plans for the weekend... Well, if Bubbles finds some place to go play for a while, I've got this to look forward to. If she doesn't, I suppose I could lock her in a box or something. I'm contemplating calling in sick Monday. Reply |
Betty Boop Sat Oct 25 07:56:15 AM He is a big kitty!
What is up for you all this weekend. We are just the same ol', same ol'. Pizza at home for lunch. We are buying frozen ones now - saved a bunch right there. Reply |
Betty Boop Thu Oct 23 04:22:54 PM Which little sister? No matter, we pray for the best for her. What a shame! I certainly hope the treatments work for her. Reply |
BizB Thu Oct 23 03:51:24 PM She's doing well. She had her followup with the Dr this morning and she's at school this afternoon - despite her pleas to her mother.
Bad news for her little sister, though. She has juvenile glaucoma - the same thing that caused Ray Charles to go blind. Luckily, they've got much better ways to treat it, now. Reply |
Betty Boop Thu Oct 23 09:25:26 AM How is Bubbles this morning? I hope she is doing just fine now! Reply |
BizB Wed Oct 22 08:45:55 PM 36 Minute run tonight. I averaged a 9:24 pace with splits of 8:43/17:43/27:23 and I stopped at 36 minutes at 3.83 miles. I guess that means I could take off a little slower so I will keep the same speed the whole way. Maybe.
I was supposed to do my tempo run on Saturday, but coach td invited me to join himself and some other much faster runners for a tempo run on Monday. So, Saturday, I will probably do another easy run. Thursday, I'm going to ride my bike for 30 minutes and Friday I'll do some core strengthening exercises. Reply |
sopops Tue Oct 21 07:09:46 PM Well a little good news coming your way!! BP and I have been working on getting the lanai clean and the windows looking great. So far I have managed to work along with her and climbed the stepladder, scrubbed walls and then went to PT this afternoon with very little adverse effects from my back.
biz lets wait until the weekend for us to set up my network, until then I will just reboot back to before sp2. no biggie for me. Love Y'all

BizB Tue Oct 21 10:37:07 AM I did the jump-rope on the back deck which does have some give/springiness. I did break it up into 5 minute chunks, too.
I don't feel sore right now but I'm guessing I will tomorrow after my long run.
I think I'll do more core stuff for my non-running days. I bought the jump rope because they suggest that as a good warm up before running. Reply |
coach td Tue Oct 21 07:19:55 AM Looks good Biz. I can't help myself though with a suggestion. The continuous jump roping and pose could lead to shin splints. A way to have it all would be to circuit train in conjuction with the jump rope. Jump rope 2-3 min. then do sit ups. Jump rope 2-3 min then push ups. Break it up a bit and get in the other stuff which is good too. I've got about a dozen core/strengh exersizes that would fit in a circuit work out perfectly. Aerobic and strength at the same time. Only way it could get better is if we got paid for it........a man can dream. The other suggestion is of course do it on as soft a surface as you can. Go Biz Go! Reply |
