I'm going to be working on the site in bits and pieces for a while. I figure I'll give you a little time to get used to each change for a while rather than hitting you with one big redesign all at once. We're going to start with the way that you guys make your comments.
You'll notice that just above the textbox where you type, there are some new buttons. I sure hope they're self explanatory. I'll cover them any way.
This is the bold button. When you click it with no text selected, the tags will be inserted wherever the cursor is in the textbox. Those tags will look like this [b][/b]. The text that you want to be bold needs to be typed between those tags like this [b]bold text[/b]. If you find it easier, you can type your word first and then highlight the text with the cursor (select it) and then click the button to make them bold. Example
Italics. Behaves the same way as the bold button. Example
Underline. Behaves the same way as the bold button. Example
Strike-through text. Behaves the same way as the bold button. Example
Marquee. Text between these tags will scroll across the screen from right to left. This isn't supported in all browsers. If your browser doesn't support marquee, it will just appear stationary on the page.
Center. Text appearing between the center tags will be horizontally centered in the comment area.
Example
Text size. adjust the size of the text by altering the number that appears within the tag. Here are some examples
[size=2]size=2[/size] [size=5]size=5[/size] [size=8]size=8[/size] [size]size=10[/size]
Insert image. This button will insert the tags [img] and [/img]. If you already have an image located somewhere on the web, all you need to do is put the image url between the tags. [img]http://www.bizb.biz/images/avatars/av56.gif[/img] will display
Hyperlink. This one works a bit differently. When you click the button, it inserts the tags [url=] and [/url]. You have to add 2 parts to this one. The first part is the web address (URL) of the site you're trying to link. The second part is the text that you want to display. Example...
[url=http://www.icemap.com/chatter/Themes/BlackDaySMF1/images/bbc/url.gif]Hyperlink Image[/url] This will display like so: Pete's avatar.
Super text. This displays text like this and works just like the bold tag.
Sub text. This displays text like this and works just like the bold tag.
And, finally, the dropdown. This one works like the bold tag, too. Well... maybe more like the "size" tag since it includes a parameter that gets passed.
These can all be combined. So, for example, you can have [b][u]Bold/Underlined[/u][/b] or you can have an image that is a link to a web site [url=http://www.google.com][img]http://www.bizb.biz/images/avatars/av27.gif[/img][/url] which would give you this . Feel free to play around with this. All I ask is that you use the Preview link so that you can see that your results are as you desired before you hit the "Say it!" button.
