Betty Boop Sun Nov 29 09:50:57 AM We had a nice Thanksgiving. We went with two other couples to the Elks Lodge in Homosassa and had a lovely dinner there. The rest of the day was like any other.
Yesterday we bought a new car seat for Duke. He manages to get out of the travel bag we got him and so with this seat, he will be fastened in - we hope!! What a little scamp he is!! We have to figure out how to get more pictures posted. POPS is snowed under with FV stuff. Reply |

Betty Boop Wed Nov 25 01:02:34 PM How are the foot problems coming along BIZ? Have you tried any running on it again?

sopops Tue Nov 24 10:08:19 AM We are glad you have no death wishes, only go out in winds like that with a 40 foot boat and use the storm jib. A lesson we learned the hard way and stretched the main sail on our 32 footer, Oh well"Cest La Vie". Reply |
BizB Mon Nov 23 09:36:26 PM I didn't take any pictures! I was too busy playing!
Bubbles has asked me to see if I can get Curly for Thursday evening. So... maybe later this week, you can have some new pics.
I did get some kite time on the 17th. It was a great session at Catawba "Island" State Park. Wednesday is looking windy, but I've got a DDS appt at 3:30, so I won't be riding. Friday is a maybe. A very chilly maybe. Reply |
BizB Sun Nov 22 07:01:24 PM That's the latest kiteboarding related viral video. It's pretty amazing. Those guys were out in 40 mph winds with 7 meter kites. That's a lot of kite! I certainly wouldn't have done that. Reply |

Betty Boop Sun Nov 22 08:23:25 AM So glad everything went well for the new mom. The baby is really cute.
I heard you had the grands on Fri. eve. How come no new pics? I miss them. I surely wish they could drop into my house once in a while. Curly looks so proud of her first turkey, doesn't she?
Did you get in any fall kiting yet? Reply |

As promised, I found the book that you were wondering about. It's "Yellow Cat by Betty Ren Wright"
It's available on Amazon.com. Reply |

BizB Mon Nov 16 08:59:36 PM Don't tell coach td... I tried to run a little today. I only tried because I went all day without any pain at all. I thought maybe it was just a cramp yesterday. I may still be right about that. I did my 1/2 mile warm up; no problems. I started my regular route paying an extreme amount of attention to my foot. I gave thought to each foot-fall wondering if I felt ANYTHING other than "wow, still no pain!"
After 1/4 mile I had two consecutive steps where I wasn't sure what I felt, so I slammed on the brakes. I walked back to the house and analysed each step as I went. Not even a little discomfort at all.
Still feel nothing out of the ordinary, but I'm going to be safe about this recovery.
Tomorrow, I'll do a core-workout - perhaps a hips & hammies workout - if my kite isn't delivered in time to take advantage of the killer forecast.
Wednesday, I'll ride the bike either on River rd., or on the trainer. Reply |

BizB Thu Nov 12 10:36:05 AM Well, I have already paid for the HH, so I'm at least going to go get my shirt.

Betty Boop Thu Nov 12 07:37:06 AM If you are pain free, run the HH just to say you did it and forget time factor. Life is to be enjoyed. Remember how your dad and I loved sailing but just could not get into sail racing? Same thing, only different. Genius, aren't I? Reply |
coach td Wed Nov 11 05:54:33 PM Btw folks Biz knows this is not some back door challenge in any way. There's only a few things in this world that are cooler that being healthy, in great shape and knowing it. Instead of wondering if you're going to pr, you're trying to figure by how much. Biz has experienced the coolness of racing so well that you can't figure your splits during the event because it's off the page from what you expected. On the other side racing while hurt stinks. There's more than the physical side to running and racing hurt. It plays with your head more than your body.
And in my opinion the Frosty 5 is way cooler than Holiday Hustle. Reply |
BizB Wed Nov 11 05:34:27 PM I can't even see 21:00 from where I'm sitting. I looked and I thought I may have seen 23:30, but it was fuzzy. I have no intentions of hurting myself. Reply |
coach td Wed Nov 11 05:03:28 PM The circumstances have changed my friend. That goal is not realistic now. That was then, this is now. Even though you didn't ask,as always I'm ready to butt in. If your goal is to run the Holiday Hustle then fine, have at it. But the 21:00 is over. I promise you will be disappointed one way or another if you think you will weasel a 2 minute 40 second pr with minimal training and remain healthy. You're a big boy and you do a great job of patiently listening to my rants and doing what you feel is best. I believe this will be no different. A pr? Maybe. A healthy pr? Maybe. A healthy 160 second pr? Nothing is that easy in running. Regardless you've come a looooooong way this year. There's more ahead and it only gets better. Reply |
BizB Wed Nov 11 02:30:05 PM I have no intention of running at all unless the foot is pain free. The question is, if I'm nowhere near my peak because I haven't been able to train the way that I wanted to, should I bother to try for the remaining 2 weeks - and eventually run the HH?
Or, should I just skip the HH this year (again still assuming I'm pain free) and concentrate on other upcoming races, like the Frosty 5? Reply |
sopops Wed Nov 11 02:23:44 PM Good advice, Betty, there is always next year and the prospect of doing something that will cause pain the rest of your years is not good. Reply |
