I can live with that
2010-03-09
Sunday morning, I left Sig's house to go home after a nice long, warm embrace. I loaded up st00pid into the car and headed home via my normal route. As I approached Detroit Avenue, I moved over to the left turn lane. The light was green and the only oncoming car would pass me before I even entered the intersection, so I didn't slow down much. As the oncoming car passed, I heard a metalic sound and I saw a whirling blur in front of my car. As I focused on the object, time dialation took over. The object hovered in the air in front of my car. It was about 20 inches long and about 4 inches wide and it was spinning like a helicopter and headed right for my car. I didn't even really have time to hit the brakes. The steel plate hit my hood about an inch inside of the headlight and a few inches above the bumper. Near death From there, it appears to have hit the bumper flat on its wide edge. From there, it went flying all the way across S. Detroit and landed in the Rite Aid parking lot. When my heart started beating again, I made my turn and continued home. Once there, I counted my blessings and called Sig to tell her that I love her.

It was a leaf-spring from an old car. I stopped back and picked it up, yesterday. Near death Had I left a few seconds later, that thing could have crashed through my windshield and done some real damage. Intead, I have a dented hood and some scrapes on my bumper. That, I can live with.

No. Neither, BigBro. A friend just posted that link on a forum I frequent.

Here's some ways to spend your time in between the scream of the shop vac.

We have no snow left except in the piles in parking lots. We're getting rain for the next 3 days and we have flood warnings all over the area. I'm sure that means I'll be shop-vac-ing my basement several times.

*sigh*

Blurriest "baby" ever.

So . . .what is the snow situation in your area now? We survived a day of rain - 4.5 inches since yesterday morning!! Plus there have been tremors out in the gulf for a few days. Interesting isn't it!! Quakes and tremors all over!

Very proud of the girls in the family - an actress who wants to be a doctor and a dancer now also. I suppose the little one will be an artist!

Unfortunately, if you believe that, then you have to also believe that the people who died a horrible painful death deserved it, or their "someone" stopped watching for a while - at the wrong moment.

Mom forgot to say that the spinning sheet of wallboard scraped the side of the car and flew up over the driver side and across the roof of the convertible, which we had put up a few minutes previous, had we not done that I would have surely been decapitated. Sometimes I wonder if there isn't someone watching over us.

You were lucky, weren't you? That reminded me of the spinning wallboard in Atlanta that did so much damage to my Sebring on one of our trips up to see you guys.

Do you get a chance to see Cliff when he gets home for a weekend? Hope so. Love you - stay safe!!
