My new ride 2010-09-19 |
Introducing the Scion tC. She's not really a sports car, so much as she is a sporty car. The engine is the standard 2.4 liter Toyota powerhouse that you'd find in most of their vehicles. But, she sure is fun to drive! I think the color is best described as Black Cherry, but in certain light, there's definitely some hint of purple. She comes standard with sun roof and a moon roof. The sun roof, up front for the primary passengers, is power and has 4 different settings for various degrees of open-ness. The moon roof, above the back seats provides a bit of a special view for the back seat passengers, too. Both have a sliding curtain that can be closed to block the light when desired. The exterior options that I had added were the pedestal spoiler on the back, the ground effects below the rocker-panel and under the bumpers and the "tC applique" on the b-pillar.
Inside, I added floor mats and an OBX brand shifter handle. Oh yes, she has a manual transmission, too.
One of the unexpected little cool things is that my cell phone fits perfectly into the little flip-open storage compartment in the center console.
In the back, the passengers have benefit of something that I've never seen in a car, reclining rear seats!
Not only do they recline, but they also lay flat so that I can hold all my kite gear in there, too. I'm not sure how much camping + kite gear I'll get in there and i have no idea how the Sears cargo carrier will look on top, but I'm willing to give it a try. I have to buy the Yakima clips for the roof rack and get the bike rack attachment for it, too. The trunk/hatch-mount bike rack won't work on this car - as far as I can tell. Until I get the new parts for the roof rack, I'll have to put the bike inside. No biggie.
Toyota is all about the little touches. In the back seat, about where one's knee would hit the side of the car, there's these little squared off hooks. They are grocery bag hooks! How cool is that?
