Last night, 'Fer and I went to see Glenn Beck's Real American Christmas show. The show started out with a bit of comedy. Glenn talked about his family and what Christmas was like in his house as he grew-up. He had us rolling in the aisles. Then, he played a live version of Mor(e)on Trivia. Mor(e)on Trivia, if you're not familiar, is where Glenn calls convenience stores in two cities who's NFL teams are scheduled to meet the following Sunday. Glenn asks the "Shelf Replenishment Engineers" 4 questions each. The questions are pretty basic questions to which most people would know the answer. For example, last weeks questions were
  • What does the ACLU stand for?
  • What state is Omaha in?
  • You know the movie the Grinch... what did the Grinch try to do during Christmas?
  • What do Donald Trump and Andy Roony have in common?
This goes on for 4 "quarters" and whichever city's score is higher is the predicted winner of Sunday's NFL game.
The live version was hillarious! It was played a little differently, but it was still comedy gold.

Then, after a fifteen minute intermission, the curtain opened just wide enough to show an American flag hanging from the rafters and almost touching the floor. It was huge. Then, a man walked out holding a large picture of the WTC as they burned on 9/11/2001. That alone brought a tear to my eye (and thinking about it just now brought another tear). This was followed by several other images related to 9/11 and then some pictures of our brave men/women in battle. And, finally, Glenn walked out holding a picture of a Marine hugging his two little girls. Anyone in the audience who wasn't crying at this point must not have a heart. Glenn stood holding this image over his head as the curtains opened the rest of the way. Standing on both sides of the flag, facing the audience, were representatives of each of the branches of our Armed Forces. The crowd ROARED! Everyone was on their feet. Glenn tried several times to quiet the audience so that he could say some words, but we didn't stop. The cheers went on and on.
When we finally sat and stopped cheering Glenn said some very nice words about and to these fine men and women standing on stage. Then, the flag lifted, the service-members left the stage (to yet more cheers) and Glenn shared with us, his thoughts on the true meaning of Christmas. I won't attempt to relate the stories he told, because I could never do them justice. Suffice to say, he touched my heart.

I hope 'Fer got the same out of it.

Thanks for the suggestion but it isn't the same. If you are ever in the NY/NJ area please have some pizza from a local place, not a chain. You'll love it!

Cia - try Pizza Hut - pepperoni - it comes with the meat on top of the cheese and I think it is mozerella also. Just the way you like it. (I think)

I like thin and crispy as well. NY Style pizza isn't always crispy. It depends on the type of oven they cook it in. But, the small pizza is bigger than any large you'll get around here. There is only one type of cheese on it...mozerella. Toppings go on top of the cheese, not under it. The sauce is yummy. It is just the best pizza you'll ever have!

My preference for pizza is thin & Crispy - yummy - pepperoni, of course. SOP likes ham, bacon & pineapple. I don't think I ever had New York style - how it that different?
Time for swimming and hot tub!

I made my first trip to Inky's today for pizza. No worse no better than anything else I've had around here. Still not NY style, which is my favorite. Oh well. There are some things I'll just have to do w/o and that's going to be pizza. Well, at least good pizza.

Pork Roll/Taylor Ham too. Can't get that out of the NJ/Phili area. Although I was w/ someone who at least lived in Phili (may be from there but I am not sure) and they don't recall ever having Pork Roll.

'Cia... or buying-new when you get there.

Betty Boop: Ain't she cute? She asked every day, "Did Granny send a message back, yet?"

I never had a problem with packing/travel. In fact, I can't think of a single camping trip where I arrived without shoes. Can you?

When I was a kid I was also the first one packed and ready to go...at least a week in advance. Now-a-days I'm packing as I'm walking out the door.

    Granny/Pops...
You know, I would send messages more often if you replied to them.

Daddy lets me type them myself.
