"First kiter on the water for 2013" honors goes to... ME!
Ryan and I went to the cove first and stood there waiting for the wind to fill in. As we watched, we kept seeing wind at Luna Pier. Rather than wait and watch, we drove south to get in a session... any session. Whatever ride we were going to get in was going to be better than standing around. Hell, it was going to be better than just about ANYTHING!
When we were done riding, I was happier than I've been all year. I really needed that.
It wasn't even spectacular conditions. 13 meter kite. Some luls. Some gusts. Some descent jumps. Some spectators on the beach and on the pier. Though, must of our jumps were out deep because it was sketchy inside, by the pier.
Now, my 2012 13-meter Fuel kite is no longer virgin. Next, I need to ride my new 6-meter Fuel. That'll be a fun day. Stay tuned.
Had to call the cops on this ride because some guy buzzed past me inside of 3-feet. I yelled, "What the fuck?" His passenger window was down, so he heard me. He continued from the country club to just before Copeland where he stopped. I tried talking to him in a calm, rational, reasoned manner. He wasn't having any of it. Eventually, I escilated to the point where I knew it wasn't going to be diffused without some help. So, I called the police. They arrived within 10 minutes... I think. The cop talked to me first and then talked to the guy in the car. I'm fairly certain that the guy left having worse feelings about cyclists than he did before he buzzed me. For that, I'm sorry.
